Anybody know the part # for Toyota Lower Radiator Hose?

I show 2 different part #s and am easily confused???

I have the OEM oil cooler but have a pipe that resembles part # 16577.

I just checked #s you posted against parts diagram and confused again. I realize this isnt rocket science and should work, but thought I would post source of my confusion. According to pipe I have is like yours, but w.cooler photo shows a different looking pipe and part #.

What "cooler" are they referring to?

The "cooler" is the oil cooler, which you said you have.
There were several variations of the lower radiator hose configurations; your diagram does not show all the variations.

Some markets had no heater and no oil cooler: some of these used a straight metal collar clamped between two hoses; some used a longer single lower hose to connect the radiator directly to the water pump--no collar.

Many vehicles came fitted with a heater. Some of the heater return tees were heavy cast, with a shut-off valve; the later versions were stamped steel, as in Alex's photo, with no valving--both of these designs used two hoses.

Some of the very latest trucks used a longer stamped metal tube, and thus shorter hoses on both ends. These longer tubes had a bracket and a rubber insulator to dampen vibrations.

There is also a version of this longer tube with a soldered heater hose return, as shown in your lower diagram box labelled "with cooler."

Notice that the oil cooler gets its water supply from the top of the thermostat housing, and returns it to a cast inlet on the side of the water pump, and has no fitting to the radiator hoses.

There were many variations of radiator hosing, as well as the water pumps, fans, and radiator cowls varied, depending on the intended market. Some areas of the engine became very crowded, depending on the options attached--hence, reference here to whether your particular engine has an oil cooler installed, or not.

I don't believe you need the longer stamped metal heater hose tee.
You should be able to use the standard short tee like Alex's, and two lower hoses--one hose goes from the tee to the water pump return inlet; the other hose has a tapered diameter on one end, and goes from the radiator lower outlet to the tee.

I think the two hoses you need are: 16571-61050 and 90916-01056, but research this to be certain in your application.

you didn't mention if you have stock a/c?

that uses a different hose than non a/c rigs

NOPE

Bear... I believe your right.

BTW, I DO HAVE THE OIL COOLER.

That's totally correct Bear, have it on the 1984, after 30 years it gave up, is this pipe (non heater version) still available or is it better to switch to another option ?

FJ4043,

I would suspect in your neighborhood that heaters are of little use.
The best solution would be the original style tubing; acquiring either that or one off a heater-version is probably difficult in your area.
The heater version would need the heater return tube capped-off.

Sometimes you have to make do with what is available to you.

Thank you for your advice, i couldn't find this part so far, so i will make it work

Can anyone help me identify the correct Toyota part numbers for the the two lower rad hoses on my 11/79 build fj40? This truck has no factory power steering but has the oil cooler. See pic of The old hoses that came off the truck.

I've been sent a hose for the engine side from a reputable Toyota parts dealer, but it's not a match They are also telling me the radiator side hose has been discontinued, which seems hard to believe. The hose they sent me is 90916-01163.

Give us some more information.

Is the engine original to the truck or has it been replaced with something newer (or older sometimes)? You stated it has an oil cooler, correct? If so, technically, they did send you the correct part: 90916-01163 which is for the water pump side of the set-up per the catalog.

Looking at your picture, it looks like you have the following part numbers:

Bottom hose: 16571-61050
Top hose (this one looks like it's been cut to make it fit, so it could be some generic off the shelf part, who knows): 90916-01056

Those are my guesses as to what you have above just by looking at the pics.

The correct hose part numbers for a 2F with an oil cooler are:

90916-01163: water pump side (still available)
16571-61070: radiator side (this one is indeed discontinued from Toyota)

So, what I would do would be to try a later configuration of hose to make it fit. Try a later configuration of hoses:

16571-61071: radiator side
90916-01163: water pump side

Then again, you can try to roll the dice and get the hoses I guessed at above. You might have to try a few different configurations.

Good luck.

Thanks Onur for the response.

My truck has the original engine and radiator. I am not the original owner so every once in awhile I find something that the PO changed around.

Do you know why radiator hoses differ on trucks that have an oil cooler versus those that do not? Is there a different water pump configuration perhaps?

Here is a pic if my set up. Maybe I have the incorrect water pump for my set up?
