Trail building had only just started this past summer when folks from the Louisiana 4x4 Association talked the owner, Dennis Cotten, into allowing some rides to take place. Since then, the 4x4 community in Louisiana has helped to cut some outstanding trails in the very rocky terrain of NE Louisiana.
The park is still very much undeveloped except for a handful of trails. Currently a map is being created to highlight all of the developed trails. We helped to create a few ourselves this weekend and watched a few other folks tackle what would be considered 4 or 5+ type trails with steep vertical climbs over huge boulders and tree roots.
For many that have experienced Sicily Island, their words all sound basically the same - we didn't know Louisiana had rocks like this!
The future of off-roading in Louisiana is going to be great if this place continues to grow and be defined. The BSLCA is hoping to host its first ever TLCA sanctioned event at Sicily Island some time next year so stay tuned.
