lossible heater core issue?

So I was going down the road today in my 84 fj60. Had the heat on and noticed a lite smoke or mist coming out of the vents. No I know I have a coolant leak somewhere but can not find it? Could it be the heater core? I do smell burnt anti freeze but honestly I smell lots of burnt things. I do not have a radio so I was able to see in the dash and saw no .

I am however still concerned that a mouse may have chewed some wires. I have debris in a air vent from one.

Finally may Ac compressor is not installed so can't be freon.

Leaking heater cores usually mean soaked carpets.

My windshield had a distinct greasy film on it from the defroster when my heater core went.

Can you smell the Glycol?

Have you notice wet carpet...checked your coolant level? Coolant level will not change if its full and everything is solid.

Coolant level gets low so I have a leak somewhere. I have also found water in the floor before but assumed it was possibly due to other things like roof gutter etc. No carpet in my cruiser.

Yes I can smell burnt antifreeze. I haven't ruled out a bad freeze plug but haven't seen it drip anywhere.
