Every time I adjust my alternator it loosens up within a week or two, then of course the belt starts to slip. This is on a 10/74 FJ40 w/the F 1.5 engine w/o emissions. The belt was replaced recently with a much wider belt that fits the water pump and crank pulley very nice, but appears to be a little on the big side for the alternator. I am looking for suggestions on maybe a different belt size.
Next question…I would like to install a clutch on my engine fan, once again this is on a 10/74 Fj40 w/the famed F1.5 engine currently running a plastic fan similar to what is used on the 2F engines. Again I need some suggestions on what I should use. I know that an electric fan would be nice but right now I don’t want to spend the time, I have too many more important FJ40 projects to finish.
