Hi all, I am currently selling my Jeep Wrangler to finance a FJ62. What should I look for when buying, I am located in Florida. I want a completely stock FJ I can restore to a classic look. I don't know much about the FJ's so any help would be great.
This picture is my motivation

Welcome:flipoff2:!

FJ62's are great rigs. Look for one that has had service, avoid
rusted bodies. Look at alot of rigs before dropping your money.

If you find a high mileage rig, don't forget that it is expensive to
fix the automatic transmission. They sometimes start having
problems at 250K. If you find one that has tranny problems,
consider a manual 5 speed conversion.

Don't overlook good FJ60's, either. There are some good ones
still out there.

Get one with no rust. If you don't mind not buying local, look on the craigslists in California and the southwest. Not a lot of rust anywhere in the west in comparison to the east. Good luck. No-rust 60s also seem to be cheaper in the west, although Cali is expensive.

X2 on the rust free. Fixing rust is messy and expensive.

Take time to look around. Don't rush. Find a nice one. They're out there.

rule 1 - no rust
rule 2 - check that the tranny has good fluid, good level and runs well (maint records would be nice)
Most anything else can be dealt with with some elbow grease and the usual billfold emptying.
