Hello

I own a LX470 and i have stock suspentions and looking for a very smooth driving i know i have the option to choose for comfort and sport to change the suspention mode but if anyone knows a good suspention brand please share.

Thanks alot

If you have the LX470 with the AHC option (standard on all US LX470s AFIK) then you won't be able to replace your 'shocks' without ripping out the entire AHC system (replace shocks, springs, torsion bars, remove AHC components, cap or remove lines, etc.).

There are aftermarket options for improving the LC/LX's handling, but personally I think the AHC suspension is one of the smoothest can have for city / highway driving in these tanks. If it's rough, bottoming out, doesn't seem to change between the comfort and sport settings, or otherwise doesn't feel right then you may have AHC issues. The forum has a ton of good info on how to test your AHC system and see if it's working within spec. Search the forum and check the FAQ for info on AHC and you'll have hours of informative reading.

I think you need to check out your lx470 AHC. There is not a day night difference between ride quality of a mint AHC and LS. Offcourse the body on frame construction will be a little rough.

I will be reading about the AHC, and btw i own a 2005 LS430.

Thanks KuroCruiser and SaadUK and Musky.

Musky +1.

I have been in this forum for a while now and this is the first time i get responses like Bamabrock and 1loudLX.

Please be respect in your replies next time, your replies reflect your behaviours.

Thank you.

I find my AHC '06 LX470 very smooth. But understand that it's a body on frame truck and can only do as good as is limited by that architecture.

Also, the seating position is higher in the LX vs the LS. This will inherently amplify side to side motions that are not an issue in a sedan like the LS.

Don't get me wrong as the LX should still be buttery smooth. Just not as smooth as an LS. If you find the ride uncomfortable, then something is likely wrong with the AHC system. Perhaps the globes are punctured.

Regarding the AHC its by default set to N, usually when i get off the car i set it to Low, will that make a problem for me in the long run?

In the long run , everything deteriorates so I think u can use the functionality. But not abuse. It's a bit delicate on 100. Much stronger on the 200 series LC.

In this thread: "This message has been deleted by Trunk Monkey."

Not sure what to say about your suspension endeavors other than pull out your AHC and put in a torsion/spring setup to have it a little cushier? But what do I know, I've never driven on AHC, but I can confidently say the stock torsion/spring setup is like driving a cloud IMO

I think the new Fox Shocks 2.0 IFP will give you the ride your looking for. They are very soft and plush.

I have a similar question, I plan to change my LX to a lift and remove the AHC, but I'm concerned about some of the comments about the OME lift being harsh. Is it possible to mix a 2.5" OME lift with a softer riding shock, such as the Fox mentioned here? It will likely be a 75% on-road vehicle so I'd like it to ride somewhat comfortable.

Or is there another option I should consider? Apologize for hijacking, but maybe responses will help the thread out.

If you don't have bumpers then I suggest going with 865 springs with the Fox Shocks, as 2000UZJ mentioned. That should give you the ride you're looking for... hopefully :D

Wouldn't a stiffer spring make a bouncy shock even more bouncy?
