Hello,

I have just joined the site and very impressed with the amount of information available. Great job!!

I have just picked up a 67 FJ40 which is basically stock with the addition of a cage, header and a 2 bbl Rochester carb. I am a total newb when it comes to LC's but have been drag racing and restoring musclecars for 25 years so I am able to do pretty much all of my own work. I want to build a good hunting rig and my plans include a roof rack, tire carrier and soft top.

I have just fired the unit up and it seems to run pretty good considering being sitting in a guys backyard for 5 years.

I do need to pick up some parts but am having problems finding a Canadian dealer. I need to do the following:

  • Rebuild the manual master cylinder (single reservoir 9 mm line)- have it apart and just need the seals
  • Needs extensive wiring and was able to find Coolerman's schematics so that should be helpful as nothing appears to work!! I will require points, condensor or swap over to a pertronix. The distributor has no vaccuum advance.
  • May require brakes.
  • LH Window Regulator
I see taht Mark's seem sto have a lot to offer for parts but the shipping could be killer since I live 2000 miles away. If anybody can provide any parts distributors a bit closer that would be great. If not I will give Mark a call as he seems to be very knowledgeable and has everything I need.

Also, if anybody has any advice please feel free to let me know.

Cheers,

James

One of the best in BC in Interior Auto Wrecking in Vernon. They have helped me out in the past.
Good luck

Aaahhhh the pleasures of a cruiser..

Good luck on all that. Do you have Napa anywhere near? Don't know kanudu very well...:hillbilly:

Look at where folks are from and send private emails to them if they're in your neck of the woods.
You'll find quite a few around you I'm sure.

4wheelauto.com in edmonton are good
IIRC their prices have gotten better lately, and when you figure it against the us exchange and shipping, it works out pretty well
very easy to deal with in my experience

and don't underestimate the toyota dealer, lots of times they can get obscure things in even for old rigs, and they get it quick and don't charge shipping

This is good advice...if you can get the part number of what you need, you'll be surprised at what the dealer can find...and the prices are better than you'd expect. case in point...once I found the correct P/N, I went to my local Toyota dealer to buy a new windshield glass, and seals for my 1964 FJ40...and it cost me around $80 for the glass!!

Other than that, SOR, and CDan will be your best bet...even thought you have shipping and customs...it sorta becomes part of the deal when restoring the older Cruiser north of the border.

BTW...welcome to Mud :flipoff2:...now post up some pictures of your '67. :)
