Hey Guys,

I'm in need of 6 axle flange studs. From what I can tell these are used on many models so I am hoping someone has some of these laying around... I'd like to get my truck back together this weekend. I'll replace them of course.

In case you're wondering if I asked the fine folks down at Metro Toyota in the parts department... I'll save you the expletives but they are not in the business of selling parts unless you have a VIN... from north america... VICTORIA METRO TOYOTA PARTS IS A DISGRACE TO MANKIND. :bang: The people there are in fact droids, probably developed by Honda to sabotage Mr. Toyota... that's my theory anyway!

If you need some motivation, I'll through in some wobbly pops for your effort!

They look like front freewheel huh studs. Anyone have a spare front axle around?

New or used? I've reused my old ones before but after all the bashing to get the rusted cone washers to pop, the studs won't take the torque spec...

In the end, I'd take anything to get me driving again!

I'll probably be in touch tomorrow...

I've got 14 used ones.

You'll just need a Vin for a 77 Fj40 with Asian hubs... or a Fj45. It's unfortunate I no longer know where the vin for my 45 is.

If 80's are the same as the rest, ANY toyota 4x4 will have the same studs on the front. I can get you a bj60 vin in the morning if you want.

I've been thinking of making a list of vins for those rare occasions I can't avoid the dealer.

A bj and an hj60 would cover most things for me, but between us in this section we could probably get them all.

Thanks for the VIN offerings but I'm never setting foot in there again. I've dealt with metro Duncan before and they were enthusiastic about finding parts by simply searching. The robots in vic are simply unwilling to help right up front, to your face. They follow protocol as if they were so unfamiliar with their job that they dont realize they are selling parts.

In the past they'd order parts by P/Ns. There service department didn't do any of the work they were paid to do as far as I was able to determine. I called them on it and their management refunded our the money we paid... but I won't trust them again.

Don't blame you. I refused to set foot in the duncan toyota for years.
Wanted me to drive in and pre pay for a $5 bushing. I asked if he was serious, and got a " you landcruiser guys..."

I don't remember my reply. Doubt he liked it.

I put arp hub studs in my old 45.

ARP makes these studs?!?! I'd do that in a heart beat... I'm going to look right now!

I'm sure ARP does. Lots of 45 guys do it to rear FF axle flanges that are known to break studs on the rear hubs. This problem is exasperated by guys running healthy SBCs in place of l6 motors. I've broken a couple over the years.

Quoted from Redline Cruisers re ARP studs:

Application Data:

  • 1979-1985 Toyota Pickup/ 4 Runner
  • 1990-1997 FJ80 Land Cruiser
  • Can be used for rear full float Axles
  • 1958-1997 Toyota Land Cruiser, FJ40,45,55,60,62,70,80 Series
  • Will work with IFS Toyota 4Runners and pickup

ARP Hub Studs Upgrade

These guys.

I did my 80 front and rear, Troopy has the same treatment. Toyota parts dept. can get stuffed.

Cheers
Crusty

It's alive...

I was wondering where to order from, I had a brief look last week and the prices I saw were double...79 is about what I remember paying ten years ago. The ones in my 45ff are a bit dodgy, I should probably get a set too.

Some trail gear stuff is not bad. I've used their sliders a couple times, because you can barely buy the steel for the price they sell them for.

Apparently island spring brings in their stuff at website prices without shipping charges which is a decent local option those of us north of the world's most annoying stretch of highway.

I find partsouq.com pretty good, and they ship (from the UAE) fast. $0.57 per stud on there.
Yes, I have a basket full of parts from them but they couldn't be here today;)

I have a couple new in packages, stud, washer, cone washer and nut new...not sure but me thinks I have 100 of them.
