Hi all. I'm seriously toying with the idea of getting new paint. Not wanting to change the color, just want to subtract 20 year from her life.
Can anyone recommend a person/place for a quality paint job? Quality being the key word.
Also would like someone local to the birmingham/hoover area.
Thanks!

Rozar's downtown was the only place I found that had a machine to identify my paint. I did the paint myself, but believe they're pretty legit.

So they mixed the custom paint for you and you sprayed it yourself? At home? I would love to hear what you did since that would be my preferred route.

Set up your PVC skeleton dome wrapped in plastic, get fans to draw fumes out and spray away.

1932 tudor sedan in pic. Thats just some black primer.

Like bamaheel, It can be done but huge PITA to me. I only had them mix up a small amount to spray dash, doors and little things. I also found they can make spray cans for easy touch up jobs.
This forum probably has some good threads to steer you if want to try it yourself.

Painted in same booth. 1932 roadster in a 1936 Harley Davidson color.

You need the sprayer and an air compressor to run it.

Prep of the vehicle is a huge part of it. You have have best painter in world and if the vehicle prep is off it won't matter how good the painter is. Also light is huge. It gets hard to tell what has been painted and what has not been painted. You could basically set up a booth in your garage if your 80 will fit in it.

I had the garage built with an 8 foot door just to make sure the truck would always fit ;).

It is really just the hood and flares that I am worried about so I may just duplicolor for now or just leave it alone. By the time I buy the paint, materials for the booth, sprayer, filter, etc. I could probably just have those pieces sprayed.
