-- your point had nothing to do with cost -- it had to do with labels.

-- it's just that some people feel the same way about specific pure breed dogs.

-- you should be able to appreciate that, yes?

dude -- stickley has no labels on it, it's just exceptional quality, so to me it sort of epitomizes a "no label" mantra -- and all the knock-offs of it out there dilute its roots, but stickley has never put an exterior label on their furniture -- it's just not their style --

-- and he can want a purebred all he wants -- all i am asking him is to get one that's in rescue -- :D

Ya that's what I'm trying to make sure of. I will make sure to visit it the breeder for a couple hours.

From what I can tell they only breed Newfies and nothing else. From reading their webstie they seem to be pretty good, but it doesn't look like it has been updated in a while

are they ethical?

did you ask them what they do to the pups birthed who don't meet their "standard"?

do they drown them? do they surrender them to rescue?

i hope it's the latter --

A good question that I will make sure to ask, thanks!

I am still trying to determine whether they are ethical or not. And not 100% sure how to go about it, that's why this thread is here. I have been given some good advice here though, so now I can start trying to determine if the breeder is ethical or not.

i am glad to see that at least you are considering these things... really it is so important

do you know what is considered an ethical breeder? just asking

otherwise really you could end up with a dog that has major health issues early or late in life due to poor breeding.

i have a dog that is "purebred" that i rescued and he has huge problems... it is sad because he is just over a year old :frown:

mebbie... mebbie not...

does it matter?

Your reluctance to answer my question strongly suggests that it is a pitbull.

And if it was? I'm not sure I follow where you're going.

We'll get to where I'm going with this soon enough.

Besides, you don't have a dog in this hunt.

Why do you hate pitbulls?

Umm, I have two dogs, but not pit bulls (taking you literally). Still, not sure where this is leading.

BTW, I like pit bulls. Never met a nasty one. More than I can say for a lot of breeds (German Shepherds!).
