So in an effort to reduce the number of vehicles, I am selling the FJ and the pig. The FJ is sold to my brother (not Dan, my other brother Mike in Seattle) and the pig has 3 interested folks, so fingers are crossed.

So I am looking for a REALLY nice, old lady driven, low milage 80 or an early 100 with the same requirements. If y'all would keep your eye out for one, I'd appreciate it!

Hope everyone is doing well! I miss you guys!

I would recommend a 2000+ 100 series. Perfect for family (bigger than an 80) and handles the highway better with the V8 as you go to 33+ on tires. It also still wheels well for moderate+ rides depending on mods and they are cheaper than ever.

Having had 80s, I would only get one if it was really well cared for (HG, PHH, etc) and well equipped. I think I would also only go for an 80 if it was supercharged to promote a little more go power.

Will keep eyes open!

What Dan said + rear air in a 100 series or lx470would be nice for the Huston area also!

I have had 2 80's and 1 100, i'll have to say that the 100 was very capable (had 295 Nitto Terra Grapplers on it). Mine was a 1999 so I didn't have the A-Trac or any of the advanced stuff, but I had the rear locker and I loved that truck. I "liked" my 80's but I "loved" the 100, wish I would have kept it. My wife has an '05 4Runner and would like a good 100 series. My .02

Heather, you know how I feel about it... I had an 80 as a DD for a while and would never go back... maybe as a dedicated trail truck, but never one that I was going to DD. I've never driven an ATRAC truck, so I can't comment on that at all, but a double locked hundy will do very well off road, and is a pleasure to DD.

They can be had for nothing right now too, your timing is very good!

Well, I am finding hundys that meet my needs (which I am ashamed to say include rear DVD system...you can never watch enough Dora apparently). I found a 2003, 97K miles, loaded advertised for $23K. I think I can talk him down, it's been listed for a while. His wife has been the only driver and she traded for a Mercedes SUV.

I think I agree from what I have seen so far that a hundy is probably the way I am going to go. But I have time. The lease on the BMW isn't up until January, so plenty of time to shop around and see what I can find.

Thanks for those on the lookout for me!

If you get a 100 near 100k miles make sure it has the service done. Water pump, belt, etc are all called for at that time. It is also close to when the starter goes out.

Thoughts on this truck?

Cars for Sale: 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 in HOUSTON, TX 77005: Sport Utility Details - 301117669 - AutoTrader.com

I drove it today. It's a one owner and pretty clean. Some staining on the carpets, a few dings here and there. It's been hit on the trailer hitch and the rear bumper is a little off kilter. It needs new rubber, and it hasn't had the big "service" I've heard a lot about yet.

Suggestions on what you think I should pay for this? It seems like it's in good shape for how old it is, and it's under 100K miles which seems to be hard to find.

I appreciate anybody's advice and help.

That 100 looks to be about where it needs to be for the mileage in terms of condition. I would check for all service records and find out about brakes. I wager it needs them. The price is spendy for what it is. I wouldn't touch it unless they took the $3k off (minimum) to get the 100k service done (or did it themselves). I got my 100 which was great for $18k with a new water pump, the full 100k service just completed and brand new tires and brakes. I would not pay more than $20k for anything older than 2004. I got a perfect 2003 GX470 for under $20k. That brings me to the next point:

Don't forget LX470s are 100s. They use the same parts for lifts, build, etc. They are coooooshie.

Example of a 100, this is a mudder and full disclosure:

High side, but amazing price for miles and condition and would probably come down (also a mudder, 2006 LX!!!)

In the end, be careful and patient. Check craigslist. I found both my latest cars on there and they are in great shape. Private sellers, look for records, recent service, etc. Just be slow to buy and patient to find and it will find you.

Looks good in pics but I would check for accident history or at least try to figure out if that paint job is original as I've never heard of or seen that paint scheme. I've only seen that when it's been line-xd. Just a thought.

Looks clean. They sure did wash it up! The miles are appropriate, the features are all there. It only has a center locking diff, not in the axles. Also, it does have ATRAC and emergency hill roll prevention (if you drift backwards it will slow you).

I would call them and offer $15,000. SUVs are not selling right now.

I would check the maintenance history. 132k is prime for a starter, water pump, and the timing belt service to not be done. Usually people find out that needs done and sell them. If this wasn't done on this truck I would offer $13,000.

You can call Cruiser Dan with the VIN and they can tell you what color it should be. Easy. I don't think it is reshot.

If you buy it do the services I mention above if they aren't done. All three can be done at once cheaper than if you do one at a time.

Yeah, that would be cool dan. I won't have time to call but if you can check it out that would be cool

Will call today, probably see it tomorrow if they can show it.
