I am going to jump in and do a valve job on my 80. I am wondering if anyone has had the head rebuilt by a machine shop in Austin. What did you have done and what did it cost? I have also posted in the San Antonio club pages too, but if you know of some place down there, please speak up. Hell, I would even drive to Houston if came down to it. Thanks.

You can contact So. Austin Machine Shop (512)444-3656. They are located at the intersection of S. Lamar and Manchaca in South Austin. Not sure what it would cost, I have had them do several sets of SBC heads in the past and they have always done good work, although I haven't had them do anything recently, so I'm not sure what it would cost. They are pretty good at getting the work done in a timely manner also.
There is also J D Machine works on Hwy 71 in Bee Cave. I've only taken small stuff to him so far (pressing parts and fly wheels), but I do know he used to build Drag Boats and some of my muscle car friends think he does a good job on their motors and heads. (512)263-2345
