My recently acquired 55 is in the body shop, body is pretty good except for a large difficult to repair dent in the driver reardoor. Looking to buy a good door to replace it- preferably within driving distance of me here in northeast PA. Again looking for a good driver rear door for my 55.
Can't imagine how many of these doors I've either given away or left on trucks that went to the yard, ironic that now I am in need. Can anyone help me out? Best to email me shmukter@pa.metrocast.net. Thanks, Gary S

Gary:
I do have a door, think its the side you need but I'm up in Crested Butte and won't be back til Sunday to check. It's in very good condition and from a '69. It's yours if we can figure out how to get it to you.
I'll see if I have a pic on my computer and post it.

Emailed you a picture. It is a LR door.

Got the door I needed

Thanks, Jim for the door. Jim Spehar offered me a good door and I accepted. Made the arrangements for Jim to drop it at his local freight dock and had it trucked to my freight dock in Reading PA. Got here unscathed in six days, and my body man is happy with it- in his words "I can work with this one". Thanks again Jim! It's funny the door came from the same truck that I got a tailgate from a few years ago, the silver and maroon paint scheme was unmistakable!

When I dropped off the door at the body shop they were finishing up another door. I couldn't believe they were doing the final wet block sanding on it. The door is smooth as a mirror and way better than I need for a driver piggy but- it sure is gonna be nice. The hood is completed- beautiful white paint on the top and a textured finish on the underside. They were anxiuos to get the first door painted and to see what it looked like in the white/orange combination. I'm anxious myself! I should get over there early next week to see what progress has been made.

In the meantime it looks like I'm buying Jeff Dozier's factory PTO winch. We've worked out a price for the winch complete with the transfer case and I am looking forward to doing a restoration on the winch and getting it onto the new piggy in the near future. We've put aside some 2X6 tubing here at work for the to-be-made front bumper. Once I have the winch we'll make up the mounting brackets and get to work on the bumper. Planning also to build a rear bumper from the same material, but when the 55 comes out of the shop it will be equipped with massaged and painted (in pewter) stock bumpers. Stay tuned...........
