Came across a 2008 with 180k+ miles. Manufactured 01/2008 so very early production. Looks clean. They need to work on their price some but the market would be very limited and should be easy to negotiate. Toyota dealer is asking $28k and I'm thinking it might be a good buy at about $25k. Clean carfax, one owner, dealer serviced with records, etc.

Am I crazy for considering $25k on a truck with nearly 200k miles? I put 40k a year easily on one. This could be my daily driver for 2-3 years then retired to an family expedition truck. By then it would have 300k and I'd just keep it.

Another option is to get a 100k mile LC for about $32-$33k and drive it about 4 years before moving on.

Third on my list is getting a 2006-07 LC or LX with about 120k miles for the $20-22k range.

Opinions from 200 owners?

I would go for the 200 with 100k miles on it, just my 2 cents...

I'm not a 200 owner but my gut feeling would be the same as kreiten. To me, 5-6k for 100k less miles sounds worthwhile - but I guess it's all a matter of likelihoods. I've driven a few 200 series, and I'd opt for an 80's series or a 200 series.... 80 is a beast offroad, 200 series is fast as hell and quiet and luxurious.

There was one in Athens, GA ( now FIAT of Atl) that had 104k and they dropped the price down to 29k and nobody took it. Now Fiat has it at 35k. No telling what they bought it for.

Bamachem, you seem to have a love/hate relationship with the LC. How many times have you bought and sold these things over the past few years? I thought you got rid of your 100 because you were putting too many miles on it so you sold it and got a Lexus commuter. Then picked up and sold an 80.

Well in any case between the 200's you mentioned. With the mileage you put on em I'd go with the 100k miles. It'll give you more time with it and you won't have to keep throwing away money on taxes every 1-2 years with a different vehicle. Plus it will save you on necessary maintenance.

Wouldn't the 100 be out because it's too old to insure through your work? Doesn't it have to be less than 6 years old.

Glad to see this thread. I am considering trading in my daily driver 2003 BMW and selling my 97 80 that has been PM'd and lifted to get down to only one vehicle.

Have come across a 2008 with 130,000 miles. What do you experienced 200 owners feel should be offered on this vehicle. Full service history on it to 100k at the Toyota dealer. Don't know what happened after that but was with the same owner and I plan on finding out if consider this vehicle. I know these trucks are reliable for a long time. I half think I am crazy as I have a perfectly good 97 with 175k on it.

Thanks for your help.

I'd do a bit of homework- auto trader, Kelly blue book, car max and see what they say. Won't be a quick mover but not end of month either. Without any homework I would guess 30??
