It's got just over 20k on it and is a manual. Locker and all the other goodies. What problem areas, if any, should I be looking for on these? I'm more familiar with trouble shooting 80s. Also, what is a good deal on an 07 FJ these days? It drives/looks great.

Thanks!

what's the build date? look inside the driver's side door frame for the metal plate. it should have month/year like 09/06 stamped near the top.

if its before 02/07, then you have the improperly treated ring gear in the rear differential. Not a concern at all if you don't go offroad. But if you are in 4lo and hit some loose terrain, spin your tires and then catch traction, then one day you'll fracture it, loose a couple teeth or similar badness.

i know. Toyota warrantied it and replaced it with newer properly heat treated set. It's never been officially documented and there is no TSB about it, but if you find a good dealer, they will fix it and tell you that they are doing you a favor "just this one time".

I'm familiar with stealership "favors" having dealt with them for recall service on some of my bikes. I go to dealers for nothing unless I have to. This one has a build date of 03/06. Killer deal, but the dude smokes so I'll keep looking for now.

I'm guessing you are aware of the fender apron bulges/cracks some people have had problems with. Not much you can do about it if it happens, but you may not want to buy a vehicle where it is already a problem. No way to tell if it will develop even if it is not present when you buy. My FJ is heavily modified and I've wheeled it pretty hard a fair amount... no bulges so far. Just something to be aware of.

I won't really care too much even if I do get them. I love this truck! :bounce:
