Anything in particular or specific to these models I need to check? Pics show it in great condition inside and out. Timing belt/water pump done within 60k. Maintenance records look great and the current owner has had it over a decade. It is a 2000. Over 200k. No rust.

I currently have an 80 and spend most of my time in the 80s tech forum, but the 100 will be my DD as long as it passes my amateur inspection. I work on my 80 so I know several things to look at and do, but just looking for any other tips. If I get it I will post pics later. ;-)

Same as buying any vehicle really and 100's are pretty straight forward and easy to work on/check out. The timing belt/wp job that everybody seems to get hung up on is really the biggest thing since it's one of those "hidden" jobs that you can't really verify without paperwork unless you pull it apart and check... but thats not an issue on this one apparently. Also, research shows year 2000 has a slightly higher than average transmission failure rate that seems to be blown out of proportion due to "you always hear about and remember the bad ones". It wouldn't deter me from buying a 2000.

If it's priced right and looks decent, drives/runs good, jump on it! Good luck!

When the engine is cold, check the coolant level in the radiator and reservoir. Check motor oil level. Keep the radiator cap off and start the engine. Any constant flow of air bubbles out the radiator indicates a bad head gasket. Close the radiator cap.
Pull the engine oil dipstick and rev the engine, any visible smoke/oil out the dipstick shows a wornout engine (blow-by)

Drive the truck on surface roads (with windows down) to hear any unusual sounds. Then on freeway at proper speeds. pay special attention to gear shifts. Check OD off and on. After heating the transmission, check the trans fluid level.

Check cabin heater Front and back.
AC front and back

Make sure to get the black original key so you can make more keys if you have the programmed key (black key)

I just bought a 01 LX470, I was so hung up on one owner, low miles, no accidents, dealer maintained, shiny paint that I didn't notice the subwoofer didn't work and it didn't have a rear wiper nozzle and a cracked 3rd brake light till I got home. I knew going in it needed the 90k major service. I brought it to my mechanic after I bought it and found it had the infamous tick, so i'll be needing a driver exhaust manifold in the future. Hopefully the one your looking at today shows as good as the pictures.

I don't want this to become a you paid too much for it or that's all you paid, I paid what I thought was fair. I paid 14k for it, 95k miles, no nav.

Thanks. Per the Carfax the right side (I think) manifold was replaced. New AC compressor and alternator.
