Lookin for some input on FJ60s

As the title says I am looking for some input from some of the more knowledgeable 60 owners on here. I have been looking at this 60 (https://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-t...28717-looking-fj40-central-north-florida.html) and have a few questions. The front pan under the headlights is lacking headlight washers. There is no antenna nor antenna hole in the fender. The 60 belongs to Eshu Elegua and he has posted a few times. If you check his posts he has a number of pics that show it from front/back/sides to help if anyone wants to check it out. Just trying to see if anyone might be able to assist in figuring out what this thing is. Thanks in advance.

If there is no antenna hole then it may be an after market fender which would mean that it might have been in an accident. Get the carfax report on it before buying and if you still want it use those details as leverage if it has been in ana accident. Check under the truck for any bent tie rods or frame rails.

The front valance may be from an 80-84 FJ60, though I'm not completely sure that ALL post 84 60's came with headlight washers. That would back up the "wrecked" line of reasoning.

If this post is part of what you are refering to, then based upon those pics, I'd agree that it's very possible that's not the original front sheetmetal. I'm just weighing in based upon what info is currently available to me. I hear that Venezuela-built cruisers have some unique characteristics not found on Japan-built vehicles, but I can find no reason other than Chinese aftermarket for the antenna delete. Not a problem if it was done solidly, and no other defects are lurking elsewhere, just value your offer or deal accordingly.

Ditto on the vehicle having been wrecked. From what I have read some of those none OEM panels were manufactured in Taiwan (sometimes China) using thin and low grade steel. Also, you'll notice that the first picture displays NO roof rack and then a later picture displays what appears to be a dealer installed OEM rack. It may be nothing, I'm just a little leery of pictures that do display reality or differrent vehicles. Hopefully, you have seen this 60 in person.

Haven't seen it yet. maybe in a week or two as he is outa town right now. Just lookin for as much input as possible before and offers are made. Hell, he is comin to look at my junk too so it may work out for both of us. No tellin yet..............

I also smell repaint/front end fix. One tip off for me is the excessive amount of white in the front passenger side fenderwell. Now that being said, if you can make sure that the frame looks OK, that it tracks true, and there are not any bent components, it may still be worth a deal. I mean, the Cruiser is old enough to drink, and there are very few 21 year olds out ther without any scars.

I think that if you know what you're going to use the Cruiser for, then you'll have a better idea if it's for you. If your plans are to restore to showroom condition, then this may not be your ideal starting point. If you want to lift it, put a bumper, sliders, etc. on it and wheel the snot out of it, it should do just fine. Make sure either you check out the Cruiser thoroughly or get a mechanic you trust to do so.

I've been checking the "progress" of this rig since his first post. As to the roof rack I think he pulled it off after he bought it. Not sure but gonna ask once we meet up. Then gotta check all the places to check as to body damage, rust, replacement parts, leaks, all that stuff and so much more. Its not that this is my first Cruiser, just haven't had a 60 before. So, just doin as much checkin as possible before to cover the bases.

If it works out to be a keeper, it is not for retoration but more for OME lift, ARB front, nice heavy rear with tire carrier, bigger fuel tank, roof rack/lights, locker in the rear, setup for long cruises/camping/and plain gettin the hell outa dodge.
