If I remember correctly, temps right out of the Head were 1600 degrees right off the bat, before leaving the property. Temps down at the collector were 800 degrees after a 2-3 block drive (before getting on the freeway), then ranged 1100 to 1200 degrees after a 20 mile freeway drive, 1100 idling at a red light, but then only 1200 driving down a street or highway. So what was the range of temps for different RPM's?
Idle temps vs. highway speed temps would have to be pretty far apart? 300 to 1200? ( If I'm asking for what may be proprietary information tell me so. ) I'm just always looking to add to myknowledge base.
With exhaust temps that high I'll have to take a closer look at protecting my F engine oil lines and the steering box.
On another note I bet the cost of doing that CARB testing was up way up there.![]()
The test was more time consuming than costly. We were able to do the test ourselves rather than paying the Fed Lab for doing it. We simply had to build a Header with mounting bungs every 2" for the length of the Header---cocky looking thing!!!
