I bet your 2F lasts longer than the world's fossil fuel reserves... Well, maybe not, but as somebody who had an unrebuilt 2F with 250k in his previous cruiser, I just have to say it will probably be a while.B

You could be right. Mine has 203K, runs great, uses minimal oil and has good compression and oil pressure. However, I got the diesel bug, and a dead motor would make it easier to run the swap past the spousal unit. When I got the H55, the H42 was leaking gear oil on the driveway-so to fix that, the H55f was "needed" if you get my meaning.

I'll need to call the guys at G&S, and maybe my bud Drexx can hook me up as well. I pulled him out of the soup once, so he owes me-haha. I will obviously look for the right deal on a 12H-T, as that sounds like the motor for my uses.

Greg, thanks for the feedback, now that I think about it, I thought you needed to changed the bellhousing to that of one from a 75 series, is that the case, or definently different input shaft?

Thanks,

Michael

In order to bolt the 1HZ to the existing coarse spline F shaft H55F you would need to swap in a 1HZ 21 spline input shaft, you will also need the propper 1HZ H55F bellhousing from an HZJ7#

To bolt a 12H-T to said tranny you will need to get a 2H/12H-T H55F type Bellhousing. Uses same coarse spline shaft as 2F

Got a friend here who sells only 40- and 60-series parts, and he says that though I may have found the 2F's in USA to be long-lasting (a tribute to Toyota quality), they don't seem to last 150,000mi between gasket rebuilds. We think the conditions are too rough even for the mighty 2F. However, the B's and the H's do seem to last forever though... some mechanics even swear by Caterpillar and Toyota engines, but not to Isuzu's, when it comes to longevity and relative ease of field repair, and availability of parts.

I'm not sure, but ever seen a HZJ with H55F .. all with H150 or H151.

Yes, the HZ came with the H55F as well in some markets.
