Installed one on the 80 Saturday. My fat belly is still sore from holding the tank :wings:

Went in pretty dang easy. Great kit from MAF. Comes with everything you need (including rare early model dual filler neck), gauge, wire harness, pump, filter, brackets, etc. Filled both tanks after install.. for like $160.00 :o The rig sits still a hair higher in the rear with the 864's.. so im stoked.

Gonna go weigh the rig at lunch fully loaded.

let me know when you get bored with the rig and decide to sell it... :)

great job!

does it stick down enough to get scraped on ledges?

(oh and for Father's day, ask for a creeper! :D)

Nope, that's why i picked the 24 gallon tank instead of the 44 gallon tank.. you can barely tell it's there!

Creeper? Shoot with my fat belly.. it would have never fit! lol I had just enough room for me and the tank in there!

Do you have any pics or more info? like a part number?

Thats a big garage at the back of your home! :D

Did it come with instructions? How many bananas is that to do?

Cappy, pics are in the link.

Yeah it came with instructions that WERE WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god we used a flash light and pulled the sending unit to find out we would have been screwed by running the breather/transfer in the wrong port!!!

I'd say at least a 3-4 banana job. It took 6-8 hours.

Just got back from the scale.

Rig is weighing in at 6,840 lbs.

That's with a few gallons out of the main tank, no camping gear, no passengers, no c02 (yes it's heavy) and no fuel/water/firewood on the rack.

All in all i would say we are around 7400-7500 fully loaded out in the field now.

Here's stock specs:

Curb Weight 4,760 lbs.
Gross Vehicle Weight 6,525 lbs.

SCARY.

Good Work, trying to make your truck's long lost twin envious?

no belly jokes you are hitting close to home here... looks good,, where did you mount the gauge...??? and how hard was the wiring...

Very cool mod Dave. I am jealous, but not of your rigs weight! You are one prepared dude. I like the fact that it is only 24 gallons. Kevins set up with the 45 gallon is awesome but for me I would rather have a little more ground clearance at the back since I like to hit the rocks as well as wander around Baja. I think the 24 would be the perfect compromise.

I'll ask the question that we are all wondering. Are you planning trips that wil require the aux cell AND 35 gallons on the roof?

Smit

Possibly... or the opposite direction. ;)

All that fuel would only get me half way down the tip to Cabo in case you guys didn't know.. it's like 1,876 miles.

Oh, Oh - the Great Alaska Highway? If so, hit up DesertDude and his lovely wife for their website blogs of their trip. They did an awesome job of pics and writeups of their adventure up there.
