unrelated question. My son is looking for a rear 3rd member for his 1989 (1st gen) 4 runner. Anyone know where he could find a good used or rebuilt one?

Me. I have a used 4.10 in good condition.

I had to replace the rear end in my truck during the restoration process and the one I replaced it with came out of a truck with 98,000 miles, if I remember correctly. When I lifted it and got bigger tires it was cheaper to buy a complete third with 4.88s and a locker than to regear and lock the one I already had.

Please PM me your contact info.

Can anyone tell me what this fuse is for and why it's dangling from my firewall?

Mine had them too, but they were up by the battery. They were port side add-ons 96-98 I believe. Do you have a switch in the dash to the left of the steering wheel?

There is a disturbing lack of front bumper options for a 98 4runner.

I am considering ARB but so heavy.....
Trail gear doesn't make it for a 98.....
I like Addicted offload tube bumper but really would prefer something that covers my privates better.....
sigh...

suggestions?

I have a Shrockworks on mine. Not sure if you want to wait as they tend to have a pretty good lead on them, or did. But it is a heavy bastard, probably more than the ARB if I was to guess.

Did you look at the addicted tube or hybrid? You are correct in your observation of the market. There were a few others but I think the market has thinned to just a handful in the last few years.

Edit: missed the bambi basher. Similar to the addicted hybrid. He calls it a plate, I call it a hybrid... Plate Front Bumper 4Runner (1996-2002) [aor-plate(4runner 1996-2002)] - $834.00 : Addicted Offroad

thanks. pretty sure i'm going with the badlands bambi basher. bambi gets in my way a lot. I drive the stretch for Jackson to Starkville on 25 twice a week--one of the more deer infested parts of ms.

So bumper arrived today (many thanks to Chris Tolleson for saving me $$ by allowing shipping to his business address). Since it is unfinished, I was thinking of just spraying some bedliner on it. Any thoughts here as to the best method? I don't want it to look like a hack job but I don't want to spend a lot of money either.

why won't this Q%^# thing let me up load a $#@$#)(*%^%$# photo!?!

I hate bedliner for anything other than lining a bed as it was intended. To me, it makes bumpers and body parts look cheap. Plus it's a pain in the deek to remove, sometimes allows rust to form behind it, trouble adhering, blah blah blah. This is assuming you're doing it out of a can. If professionally done from a gun, better results but still looks cheap and tacky to me. I would spray bomb a semi-gloss black.
