I have a 700R4 and a sucky B&M shifter. I am considering a 16" Lokar to replace it. My problem is the mounting. The right side of my trans is taken up with my twin stick t-case shifter. I would have to hack up the Lokar mount to somehow get it to bolt up.

Lokar has a cable operated version of the shifter as well as a floor mount mechanical link shifter. Is anyone using one of those? How well does it work for you?

Thanks

Steve

Lokar Shifter

I have a Lokar floor shifter on my 72 FJ40 with a 700r4 trans and works great. I have attached a couple of photos taken during the build a couple years ago. Not the best pics but you can see the room for your twin stick.

I know Lokar makes a good product. My issue is that I mounted my t-case twin stick shifter on the right side of the trans. I would have to cut off the trans shifter right side mount. That is why I wonder about experiences with the cable or tunnel mount options.

Why can't you modify the Lokar bracket and tie it into the tcase shifter mount?

Does not seem like that big of a deal; it's only metal. :)

I would not install any brand cable shifter if a mechanical option exists.

I thought about that Poser. I'm sure I could fab something up. I just wanted to see if the other options were any good before deciding.

Amen! Cable shifters are definately NOT the right tool for the job. :frown:
