eBay Locked 40th on Ebay $19k

Is there anyone close to Northbrook, IL who can go check this one out? Seems like it's in pretty good shape. I'm a little wary of the "frame and undercarriage washed scraped and rust proofed." I've been talking to the guy and he's done all the work himself, down to welding the NWTI bumpers together.

I've been negotiating with him a bit, but would love some constructive opinions, especially first hand ones.

Ask the seller for pics of the underside BEFORE he slathered on the black mystery goop. Surely he snapped some during the dozens of hours it would take to conceal remedy all that corrosion.

Cheap, loud Mud tires.
LX450 wheels.
Interior looks pretty clean.

Way ahead of ya. But havent been sent any pictures yet. It looks from the underside pics he included that there may have been some corrosion/pitting before the "rust proofing" occurred. Wrong wheels (and tires), but thats an easy fix.

Apparently he doesn't have pictures of the underside before the rust proofing. But he sent me some detail shots of it and it appears to be alright. Said he used a company called Ziebart to do the application. Appears to be easy coast only. Need some opinions on this one...

Anyone local who can look it over first hand?

I'm not looking for a 40th to keep it garaged and collected. I'm an enthusiast, and I'll be anal about keeping it nice, but I still want to use it for what it's intended for and enjoy it here in Colorado. So the lift and bumpers, wrong wheels and third row, they dont really bother me. I just want to make sure its straight, baselined, and rust free. I agree the price is overkill though. I'd be interested around 15. He can keep the bumpers.

I agree with $15K provided it doesn’t have Illinois rust issues and is mechanically sound.

If I still had mine, I wouldn’t sell for less than 15...

@ELSIE80 are you wanting a 40th anniversary? i am likely about to put mine up for sale soon. Hate to do it, but I just don't drive it enough after getting my GX. I'm trying to compile a list of all of the work I've done on it over the last 5 years.
