Oops guess I missed this, MT is going to sell them to me for $10 plus shipping so I feel that's a pretty good deal.

That's a good deal. Ben at e and c wants 14 with grade 8 hardware... I forgot to post up.

Are you planning on incorporating any cat protection with these sliders?

Yeah, I plan to do something similar to the BumpIt OR Cat protection with some flat scrap I have and tie it into the holes in the frame.
Once I get all the pieces cut I needed to talk my boss into welding it all up for me.

Unfortunately no I don't have them mounted yet. I am trying to fix my old Delta drill press so I can drill out the holes for the plates the U-Bolts will attach to. Anyone know how to fix these old Delta tools? The main shaft seems to move up in the sleeve and when it does the chuck and bit will wobble.

Sounds like a bearing is either shot or not held in place properly?

Yeah, I replaced both bearings and clips but the bearings and shaft still move inside the sleeve with the gear teeth when pressure is added. So not sure what my options are. I can either buy a new drill press that is no where near the quality of this old delta or wait and try to source parts from another one being sold on CL.

So after some online research I have learned that what I am calling a sleeve is actually a quill. And a replacement piece is $300.00 and what I called the shaft is actually the spindle and there is no replacement for it. So it looks like trying to find another used Rockwell/Delta on CL is my only option if I want to save it.

How thick is your steel to be drilled? Could they be drilled with a corded hand held? Although there are quite a few holes (4 holes per plate in however many plates you have) it can be done.. Starting with a few sizes smaller and working your way bigger. I have a 1/2" drill and bits you are welcome to use. Let me know!

Yeah it can be done because I did one plate already, you just have little room for error since a squared U-Bolt goes into it. The one I did you have to wiggle it a bit.
I was planning to step up to thicker steel and then I would really want the drill press.

I've got a floor drill press here in Poway if you need to punch a couple holes...

Well I scored another Rockwell press, a bench top one this time. Thinking of just pulling it off the smaller bench top post and putting this one on the full height post. Now I have spare parts for my press!
