I was going over the truck & trailer today in preparation for the kokopelli/canyonlands trip and discovered that I'm about to do a Flintstones imitation. Something has been leaking and rotted out my DS floor board. Probably the windshield.

I'm going to call Justin @ Redline and see if he has an 80 body that I could buy a floor board out of, but I'm not going to have time to put it in.

I've used this shop before small mom and pop business. I've been happy with the work they did.

Thanks - I'll give the a call in the morning.

No quick patch solutions?

I haven't chopped it out yet, but it's pretty bad and goes up the curve in the front and probably on the side. But yea, I should get a better look at it before I go nuts.

I have some expanded metal you could rack weld for some reinforcement just for the trip. If that would help

Not good :( this is just the stuff that fell out tapping it with a hammer. Cutting back to good metal will be worse.

So I think I'm going class an it up as well as possible, then rust reformer, primer, paint.
Then cut & bend a piece of steel and rivet it in place with some kind of sealant in between. Any thought on the sealant. ? Was maybe thinking of that asphalf roofing caulk.

body seam sealer is what you want. expensive but its what the pros use.

OK, thanks - will try to pick some up today. Do you think I can fill those corrugations on the right side with that stuff?

I see better now. If it is meant to be temporary why not use cheap silicon, a small patch of sheet metal and some self tapping screws? Maybe I am missing something.

its pretty thick stuff so i would venture to say yes.

Not sure if you're still looking for a shop but there's a fabricator that recently moved his shop from Cali to here, he built a set of sliders for me and the work/welds are top notch. Really nice guy and price was more than reasonable.
