If you're looking for a lot of hardware, such as for a DIY beadlock kit, I recommend Active Bolt in downtown Memphis. They were very reasonably priced, fast, and good service.

(200) 3/8-16 x 2.25" Gr. 5 zinc-plated bolts
(400) 3/8 flat washers - zinc-plated
(200) 3/8 split washers - zinc-plated
(200) 3/8-16 nuts - zinc plated
$66 out the door. Best price I could find anywhere by far. I know it's not cheap, but I got a lot of stuff. The bolts made up the majority share of the cost. I think they were $48 of the total.

I highly recommend Active Bolt if you're looking for good prices and good service in the downtown Memphis area.

I'll second Dave's. They do good work from what I can tell. They have a ton of stuff crammed in that little shop. It's amazing! They also have used winches for sale. Not sure on prices, but I saw a couple Warn 8274s in the back.

Truck Parts Specialists

Jason Emmons

901-332-7000

757 E Brooks Rd, 38116

Driveshafts and lockers and driveline stuff. He is a Toyota guy and stocks the odd ball size tubing that others where scared of doing when I called around.

Great to deal with.

Do you recall what that set you back? What made you decide it was time to do it?

Long story short, installing an entirely new suspension on my wife's Jeep XJ. I cannot for the life of me get either of the rear bolts for the rear leaf spring pack to budge. I have been soaking them in PB Blaster for a week, I have even stood on a cheater bar with the only result being a broken 21mm impact socket. So, I need to call in the big guns. Everything else on the suspension is finished, shocks, springs, brand new leaf packs with bushings already pressed; what I need is a shop around here that can get these bolts out and not rake me over the coals. Anyone have anything in mind? I was thinking of 4 Wheel Parts off Covington Pike just because I know they do suspension work, but this in theory should be straight forward, its just a normal leaf spring pack.

Anything helps, my in-laws will be driving this home with them in 10 days. Hopefully this is the right place for this question. I read through and there were some shop suggestions but I did not see suspension listed.

For your Auto Detailing Needs:

TBOC Auto Spa

Owner, Larry. It is unreal the amount of work they will do on your car for such little money. I will try and post a before and after pic, but having your car completely clay bared, 3 stage buff/sealed/waxed, wheels polished off car, head lights polished, plus an entire interior shampoo (3rd row included), and the rest you would expect for ~$200!

They have a great shop by the airport, very nice and clean. I wanted to my paint protected and sealed since here it seems to get little black spots on it no matter how much I wax it, and the interior smelled like a combo of the 16 year old boy I bought it from and my dog; If your cruiser needs some cosmetic love, this place gets a bump from my 3 experiences (removed all the swirls and cigarette smell from the XJ we got for my wife).

Moore & Clements Radiator Works
(901) 527-3533
860 Vance Ave, Memphis, TN 38126

Owner and Contact: Jim

Great to deal with. Got my radiator back in less than 24 hrs. Very good price also.

He stated that he can get some plastic tanks for you 80 guys.

They also weld Alum. and do heat and a/c work.

Moore & Clements might be out of business now. Their number has been disconnected.

I called around and was referred to Commercial Radiator Repair. I had a damaged transmission cooler fitting on a used radiator I bought. They got it patched up and back out the door in less than 24 hours. They might not be as cheap as Moore & Clements, but that might be why they are still in business.

Commercial Radiator Repair
1995 Thomas Road (near Covington Pike & Pleasant View)

Here's a couple more recommendations...

For radiator repair and custom modification - CIA Radiators. One of (maybe THE) last old-school radiator shops in town.

For custom exhaust work - Quality Muffler. Another old school place. The owner does all of the work himself and you can tell he takes pride in his work.

Both of the above are VERY reasonably priced, too. I used both for total one-off custom jobs for a V8 conversion. Very nice guys at both places.

Can you post the A/C hose guy's info?

Absolutely. I've got a card I was waiting to take a pic of. I'll add it to this post when I find it.

For AC hose repair / modification / and from-scratch fabrication - call "Mike". His number is (901) 542-0509. He's a another old-school, super nice dude, and he is fully mobile, so he'll pretty much come to you. He'll even meet you in a shady part of town if you want the full experience:grinpimp: Sometimes he has to take parts home to repair, but otherwise, he does it all onsite.

He built my GM-to-Toyota hoses, and rebuilt my Toyota-to-Toyota hoses.

Here's the fittings & tubes he bent up to go on my GM compressor...

Can you guys recommend a cruiser mechanic in the Greater Memphis area? I'm new(ish) to this area and I bought my first LC ('68 FJ40) a couple weeks ago. It's got a '78 350 and auto TH 350. I'd love to have someone go through it for/with me. Thanks!

Locally there's a guy in Bartlett that specializes in old cruisers but he is $$$$$. It's called Birch's automotive. If your truck is stock, check out Harris quon. They work on toyotas and have a great reputation. PM me for more details. I have experience with both

It might be a bit of a haul for you from Arlington, but Mattei's Garage ALWAYS has cruisers (40s, 60s and newer) on the lot as well as a lot of classic cars. They might be a good match since you have a drivetrain swap and your truck is older than most mechanics.

If you don't have any problems and just want to check everything out, you could probably bribe us with beer!

Harris Quon doesn't work on LandCruisers :(. And I agree about the $$$$$ comment ;)

Just got my first Land Cruiser. It's a 1999. Gonna need a few service related things done and possibly some minor repairs. Anybody know of any current shops that specialize, or are well known for doing good work on Land Cruisers?

There has been some underground talk about these guys down on the sketchy part of summer.

I’d probably submit a work request and see what happens.
