I am wanting to start taking my kids camping. Using a tent of course. Where can I go that may be somewhat remote or at least not having to park next to a camper.
The more scenic the better.

There are some nice primitive camping spots up near Asheville and Hendersonville. And off course a few places that UC's go to like Hurricane Creek, black balsam, etc. Not sure of where to camp in Charleston except going by boat and camping on the beach.

Where are these places? EX: Hurricane Creek and so on.
No beach camping. I have done tons of that and not wanting to for a while unless it is a club thing.

They can be found using Google. I.E. Hurricane Creek, NC, and Black Balsam, NC however it would be best to talk to JP or Steve who knows those areas well for directions. Jp, Clemsoncruiser, Steve, Eventhough.

Hunting Island will have RV's and trailers, but the sites near the back are really secluded, and very beautiful. You won't wake up to an RV beside you, but they will be around. I HIGHLY recommend Hunting Island. It has been my favorite place to camp so far. Your kids will love it as well. Woods camping, beach fishing, Lighthouse you can climb, deer eat out of our hand, etc.

Mike, we go camping with the scouts all the time, but must of the crowded places we go, they have group camping area we use.
We are going to Poinstett St. Park in Manchester Forest on the weekend of Mar 18-20 if you would like to join.
We will be doing the bike trails there. Nice place, but we are camping in a group area. (new flush toilets)
Let me know if you would like to come.

Thanks David but i want it to be just me and the kids without a lot of distractions. That is why I want something somewhat secluded.

Hunting Island or Edisto, there's also Givhans Ferry.

I've got to give a thumbs up to Givans Ferry. Very cool place. I stayed there for the first time this past Memorial Day weekend. It's a quiet place. Pretty small. The cabins are really nice for a state park. You can rent all 4 and have the whole road /kuldasac to yourself. Rangers were very cool. Never had an issue with them. Good fishing on the river. We reserved the cabins again for Memorial weekend this year. Going to make it an annual trip from now on. I think it cost us around 200 for the three nights.

Cool. Thanks. My wife is from that area and it's not that far from me.

We've been talking about camping and kayaking at Givhans Ferry. We stop by there a couple weeks ago and circled the camp ground. It's a small camp ground and I'm sure it'd be quite but it could get busy during the summer. If you don't mind driving there are some awsome camp grounds upsate, we really like Lake Jocassee (takes about 5 hours to get there from Beaufort). At Lake Jocassee you can park at the camp ground and kayak/canoe across the lake to a island camp.

Colleton St. Park is right up the road and is also nice.

Do any of these places allow for a primitive fire to be built?

Both as far as I know.

I know of this place very well. This was from my tent about 6 weeks ago.

I don't think guns are allowed at State Parks are they?

Read the laws, certain parks allow you to in your car if you have a CWP, I believe. County parks are different, they have their own set of rules.
