HI ALl
I was talking to a friend about the Elec difflock not working on my lj78w, he informs me that the whole system has to taken out and a copper plate on the back of the diff lock need to be replaced.
how is this done i have tried to find any pics of info on cleaning and servcing the elec hubs. pics or a web site would be great as i am very wary of taking the front hubs apart and being left with a maze of parts.

Thanking you
JIM

Electric hubs or electric diff lock...? These are two different items.

Use the search feature as the electric locking hub as been covered several times before.

Please put your location in your profile.

how to take apart the electronic hub lock on the wheels?

There is a harness that runs from the frame to the wheel hub, carefully unplug this near the wheel and check for power with a test ligh when the switch is depressed. If you get power for about 5 or 10 seconds, then the system up to the wheel is good.

The common failure points with these hubs are the brushes and the brass slip rings that the brushes run on.

Here's some of the search results for "electric hub":

Remove the electric hubs and fit on manual hub locks.

have you had the hubs apart recently or just before this action happened? if so then the brushes are probably busted off...
