SILVER Star
They are nothing more than a steel can with a tube to connect to the vac system and a threaded bung for the switch to go into.
On my dash the same red light comes on if: 1) there is low vacuum. 2) the parking brake is on. 3) brake pressure fails. Any one of those situations makes the light come on.
If a seam in the vac can is leaking or if it has a hole in it you could fx it with caulk.
You can connect a gauge to your vac pump to make sure it is doing the job.
I added a plastic can to my system to store more vac for larger booster.
