I have a 1991 LJ78 (JDM) truck with brake issues. Pedal went to the floor, so we bled the system several times with no change. New booster and not much change. It will lock up, but still a dead feeling pedal. Looking for a master rebuild kit. Anyone have a source? No signs of leaking when replacing the booster. But there is also a vacuum reservoir assembly, but I have never seen/dealt with one of those.

I have a new in box master cylinder rebuild kit that I could let you have for a good deal. I purchased one but ended up replacing my entire master cylinder because it was too pitted to rebuild.

Consider getting booster and master rebuilt by White Post Restorations near Front Royal.
Also, if you have LSPV it makes bleeding more interesting.

Never knew they existed. Thank you. I'll take some used parts i have to them.

What's LSPV?

Load sending proportioning valve. Depending on weight in the rear, valve sends some fluid pressure forward to discs. Or routes more to rear brakes if weight is there. If you have one it needs bleeding too. My lspv has an “arm” maybe 3/8” diameter that runs from valve on right side to rear axle.

White Post has awesome warranty.

I dont believe i have that. Looks like a standard set up. I'm pulling booster off today and will take to that shop you mentioned. Pulling booster and master off my Hilux too while I'm at it.

The LSPV will be mounted to the frame above the rear axle. Your LJ78 will almost certainly have been equipped with one originally, but it may have been deleted by some past owner.

This? That shop won't rebuild stuff that new apparently. Called them.

Yes, that is it.
They clean up very well.
I bought a new one from somewhere.

Do a search for photos I took when I had one apart.
Also Felde had some really good posts about getting the LSPV bled and set right (without special tools).
Changing the height of the LSPV "arm" where it attaches to the rear axle can noticeably change braking/pedal action.

I think White Post needs booster and master cyl if you want full warranty.

I believe this is the one for your truck.

Great info. Thank you! I won't be down at the truck again for a few weeks.

Place in white post got bought and only do classic and antique work now. Don't do vehicles as new as 90s.

Noooooooooooooo!
Family business gone.

I did find this place that rebuilds Toyota master cylinders for $385 in NY state. They also do boosters. www.applehydraulicsonline.com I might give them a call.

Yeah, yeah yeah.
They are well known in the MG world for low-tech oil filled lever shocks.
I used them for that service years ago..

I sent you a PM.
