Yes and no. It depends on if the diesel has a turbo. Turbo models have the R-series (LJ77 and LJ78), non-turbo got the G52 (LJ79 and RJ77). It may also vary depending on market, but that is the trend I have seen.
 
It's the original transmission that came with from the factory. My grandpa was the first owner and he never did any major work/upgrades.
