Hi all,

I would like to change the stock electronic hub locks to mechanical hub locks and I was wondering if these on ebay will fit my LJ truck?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...akeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en

If these wont fit which one should I buy??

I am going to replace them because mine are not working properly and they have been mounted in the ON fixed position so the front is always working for now.

Thanks,

Emir-

I am pretty sure those will not work as those are for a Mini-truck. You need to buy the hubs from a Land Cruiser vehicle. I believe the splines on the inner gear are different (in diameter) in Land Cruiser vs. mini-trucks.

I did this conversion in a set of axles I bought with E-lockers and the conversion is a little more involved than just swapping the locking hubs.

Here are a couple of threads for reference:

Hope this helps,

Im not sure if oldblue still does them but has a nice fix. You send him your outer hub plate and motor gear, and he sends them back modified to lock/unlock with an allen key from the outside. I did a similar mod to mine for around 5 bucks for both sides. give him a PM I dont think he charges that much, but you have to send him your parts so you wont have 4wd for a bit and i wouldnt recommend driving without the outer plates...

No, as stated above the IFS hubs will not fit a Land Cruiser as the axles have more spines.

I live in Dominican Republic :p. Right now the hubs are perm locked and I am ok with that but there is a noise and I believe it is coming from the diff and that's the part I don't like and that's why I just want to turn the locks on only when I am going off roading :D

Hey guys, someone is parting out a 1987 fj60....if I buy both spindles with both wheel hubs will those parts fit my truck??

the seller is going to keep the hub locks so I will only need to buy the hub locks to complete the conversion set, am I right???

I bought some Hilux (think you call them mini truck?) spindles and hubs complete and used these on my LJ71, Just have to plug up the electical wire slot in the LJ71 swivel housing with some sealant. Try and get some with Aisin Manual hubs if you can, there the strongest.

I also just recently did the same conversion. Took the hubs from a 62 series and made them work. Now I know that locked is locked and free is free.

Yes, they will fit. As stated in the thread, you will need to plug the hole where the e-locking hub wiring would get into the knuckle area (just clean and plug with oil resistant silicon) and mount everything from the spindle out of the FJ60.

You will still need to source the correct locking hubs from a Land Cruiser and not from a Hilux or Mini-truck as the splines are different.

Thanks Alberto for the info, I wont buy those parts since the seller wants to sell the complete package as a set (knuckles, spindles and wheel hubs)

I will see what I do in the end, wish I could ship my hubs to oldblue but we are too far apart.

oldblue will you sell me your info on how to convert my hubs to manual???

Thank you Redd, I just bought the carbon according to your post!!! I will see if I can fix them with this. Thanks a lot man

I just posted up my method if youre interested or if your hubs dont work out with the new carbons.

Cheers

Great to know yotahed!!, thanks for sharing I will see if they don't work out with the new carbons and try what you posted!

somebody ought to add Yotaheads idea to a sticky

NOferz lol i think id nearly go with Yotaheads idea. the way i did it will take you several hours each side dunno why, its just time consuming.

its frikkin rewarding when you hear them whirr and click into action though, ill say that much. satisfying.

Yotaheads idea i can see being done and dusted in less that 2 hours.
