Hi all,

I'm about to do some work on my rear axle. I'm picking up a gasket for the diff, but i'm curious what you guys think of liquid (anaerobic) gasket?

i've used it before on other cars, and it seemed to work all right (if applied correctly), but what are your thoughts?

i know that it used to be sh!te, when it first came out, but as i understand it, it's gotten a lot better, and actually handles vibration and whatnot much better than traditional paper type gaskets now.

I'm a huge fan of dark brown Permatex Form-a-gasket for everything except heat/pressure applications. I will use nothing but "paint-on" Coppercoat for heat/pressure applications such as Heads and Headers.

for both of those applications, do you use them in place of the gasket, or along with the gasket? with coppercoat, don't you _have_ to use it with a gasket, in all but the most perfect conditions?

Yes, you would only use Coppercoat with a Head or Header gasket. But I have specifically used Permatex Form-a-gasket in places when/where I did not have a gasket at all to use.
