F350..

I take it I could probably find further info in your "bob" thread? I know LT runs 1/4 and has helped some peeps around here set their's up... maybe I'll give him a shout and pick his brain. Gotta figure out what to do with this

:hhmm:

nothing really to it. Rear F350 springs that have been frenched into the frame. The biggest deal for me was making the truck sit low. Bob looks puny compared to Sixty's rig. he is on 36" tires and I am on 35's.

I would keep those axles for a buggy..

Unless you want to turn your rig into a trailer queen that will never perform as well as a buggy..

My 60 is a rockcrawler, but I have been very happy with the SOA and stock fj62 springs. Unless one is going to bob the back I don't get the advantage. I think the fj60 might be a little heavy up top to really enjoy full use of the four link. I am running 1-ton axels and 39.5 IROKS- I can pretty much go anywhere I want. Maybe I am missing something.....

Oh, just playing with ideas and maybe try something different. My current SOA works great and I really have no complaints. The front axle was previously set up for a 4 link but I could cut off that truss pretty easy. Bobbing the back is defiantly in the cards right now but being able to drive to and from the trail and to pick up groceries is still something I would like to still be able to do when its all said and done. My sixty does not serve any DD duties anymore.

Winslow are you the fella with the youtube video of the brown 60 with the tons and 39.5s in Moab?

the 60 axles are being traded for those axles (if it all works out)....I'll still have that dana 61 and 14bolt lying around though. :)

That front 60 with full hydro still has 30 spline outers just in case you didn't realize ;)

Having a hard time selling the front 61?

Yeah, the plan will be to run drive slugs and upgrade to 35splines outers and an arb. The rear is a d70HD 35 spline (no neck down) with a full detroit. The new set of axles is a brand new thing that I hadnt planned on. The trade just kinda came up... I havent even had a chance to think about what I'm going to do with the 61 and 14 bolt.

I would do hubs if you plan on driving it on the road much. I have slugs in my 40. Not horrid, but the lockouts are a lot nicer.

Its a dodge axle and know converting over to a decent set of hubs can be a pain in the arse from what I've heard. I think I read something over on pirate awhile back about it. I really dont drive on the street much.... occasionally to work, kids soccer practice, beer runs, and to the trail and back which is only 20 mins away.

TJ coils on a 60 would be piggish..

I'll be loosin alot of sheet metal too ... gota run what you got right :meh: I'll also only do the rear :hillbilly:

be careful with those Dana 61s if I am not mistaking there areno gear selection for them and I have saw several break

Gear selection is not the easiest thing, but they are no weaker than a 60.

yeah, I've gone through "education" and "research" on the 61. In all reality they are the same as soon as you add the ring spacer. Some make the argument that it makes it weaker but most are talking what they think and not what they know. Rustynailjustin on pirate has been running one in the front end of his 40 for years with no problems and I dont think anyone will accuse him of taking things easy.

The biggest downfall is not being able run gears numerically bigger than 4.88. I have no second thoughts about running it.

Well the ones that I have saw break was with the aid of a pretty hefty 6bt cummins and built 454's but I guess that is a little extreme aplications. They were both in a pretty hard bind with 44's and the pinion snapped on them

So it broke due to LOTS of power, being bound up and huge tires.

You consider that weak???

ok then if the dana 61 is such a good axle then run it and when anything happens to it try and find parts for it bc it will break.
