BTW this is a very fruitful discussion about the relationship of the shock and the SPC arms...I'm not in the market for either but its good to see facts developing that will be put to good use for others specific to the SPC arms!

 to Rover4 and SanDiegoCruiser for posting the pics! For curiosity sake it will be good to know where the SPC balljoint bottoms out...and whether it happens to coincide with the bottom out of the SPC UCA arms (at the frame in Rover4's #69 post on page 4).

Droop is ~24" hub to fender. I'm working on getting angle of the ball joint.

We need some good ol' fashioned bare bottomed suspension cycling done around here. ;)

SDC: Sorry I can't remember...you running a body lift or no?

No body lift.

FWIW I'm at 24-1/4" net (25-1/4" - 1" body lift).

Are you running Total Chaos? What shocks? Fox?

My UCAs are custom one-offs. Fox 2.0 with remotes [internal UHMW droop pucks, limit straps, my own valving (after many valving experiments), post to eye upper adapters (because that's all that existed in 2007) and urethane lowers (after blasting through too many to count diminutive #8 sphericals)].

I'd be running a custom set of Glenn's but when we built the arms I didn't realize I'd want more performance than the 2.0's were delivering...and I don't have quite enough clearance for the 2.5 main shock bodies. Bummed about it...but its the way it is...shoulda woulda didn't.

Ok well if anyone else with SPC's can measure their total droop from hub to fender (subtract any body lift) then I will have something to compare to. Who knows, maybe the shocks are ok.

Has anybody used the SPC's with remote reservoir 2.5" shocks? I haven't seen any yet and I need to get some shocks very soon.

Just measured: 24.25"

Am running OME 60000 Nitrocharger Sport shocks for now (Icon 2.5" Remote Reservoir on order). No body lift.

It will be interesting to see if that number changes with the new Icons!

.

Just curious, what are your valving numbers?

SPC's are installed and it appears my Radfails are my limiting droop factor by far.

At full droop I have about 5" of shaft exposed up to the rubber washer. Once again my Radfails FAIL!

What exactly were you expecting when you measured? 6-7"? What was the measurement with oem uca?

I'm 23 3/4" from hub center to fender lip. That's with SPC's and those $99 Fox 2.0 IFP shocks. When stock, that same measurement was 23 5/16".

I cycled the suspension minus torsion bars, shocks, and wheels. With the shocks removed, I gained 3/4" of droop (measured at the dust cap) before the SPC controls arms hit the frame. If I had the wheels on at the time, that measurement should have equaled 24 1/2" from hub center to fender lip.

I didn't measure before I switched. Based on all of the other numbers here, it appears the Radflo's are ok for not being the longer shocks that others talk about.

SDC, try this if you can. Get a pencil or black sharpie and draw a little dot in the exact center of your hub dust cap. Lift your front tires off the ground. Then flip your tape measure around, butt the end against the bottom of the fender, and tell us the number you see at the center of your dust cap.

P.S. I really dig those 17" Lexus wheels. Looking good!

That's what I was thinking...

To take advantage of the extra travel that can be gained from the SPC uca, you need a new shock. I don't think a longer shock is really needed... But we can discuss more over beers on Sat. Instead of a radfail moment.... We will call this one a craigfail..... Bwwwaaaaa!
