OK, here it is. I have an 09 LC and I am figuring that around winter time I will be needing to get some new tires. I figure that that would be a good time to lift my LC as well. Makes sense to me. I was wondering if anyone might know of a good place in or around the Bay Area (Dublin/Pleasanton) to take it for said work.

Tires first.

These Rock Warriors with fat, proper 285/70/17 tires are the best upgrade I have ever made on a vehicle.

I have been wondering if 1" really makes that big of a difference? I am putting my tires on my RW in 2-3 months before snow hits in Chicago and wasn't sure if its going to feel night and day different. I assumed since it was only 10 higher aspect ratio when compared to stock it wasn't going to be that big. I have 285/70/16 Michelin MS on my 100 and I love them but I have alot more ground clearance as well.

Well, there are a lot of variables - tire choice, tire pressure, etc. A lot of people here are running 38-42 PSI. Stock on the 20s is 33 PSI, and I am running 32PSI while on the road right now.

I went with Michelin Defender LTXs - same as MS2s but newer compound. Michelin Defender LTX M/S Tire Review » AutoGuide.com News Great ride, E load rated, very quiet, and the extra sidewall I wanted. BUT, they are coming out with a 295/70/17 soon. @gaijin here is big on the Toyota recommended tire size for the Rock Warriors, and I went the "safe" route of 285/70/17. I have given it more thought, and at stock ride height there's not quite as much clearance as I would like in the front wells for anything bigger. Would be nice if I could lock the suspension in raised mode but as soon as you go above 18mph it goes back to 8.9" (~9.6" now) automatically.
I can certainly see a big difference going from the OE 285/50/20 to 285/70/17.
