Yeah, the white landcruiser looks great! I don't mind a little rake, especially when it allows it to be loaded for trips and not bog it down in the rear. But that is why I started this thread...to get peoples opinions on what they have done that is mall, and to get peoples opinions on if I should lift a little more, or not? This minute I am thinking of 1" spacers in the rear, new shocks all around and see how that does. It wouldn't be as level, but would allow me to load gear or a hitch rack with gear and not have the bumper dragging.

I am still open for oninions? Does it look too Goofy to keep the current hight? Will it bottom out on two tracks in the mountains once I load it with camping gear?

this is a great thread for those of us still stock. looks like stock torsions and rear spacers is the way to start off without much sacrafice. now what about shocks. what is the best/most affordable shock combo to go with this setup. brand and model number front and rear would be greatly appreciated.

How is everyone running 2 or 2.5 inches of lift, keeping everything appearing close to level, and still maintaining enough droop (without aftermarket UCA's)? I've got a 1.5 inch spacer in the rear and my front sits at 21" from hub center to fender lip (2.5 inches of droop). About a .5 inch rake. Anything greater than 21" up front and I don't have enough droop and the truck does not handle well (I've put up with torque steer and my shocks topping out for a while, but after a torn CV boot I installed a Slee Diff Drop and started backing off the torsion bar a full turn at a time until I got to 21"). If I added another .5 or 1 inches of lift in the rear, and kept the front where it needs/wants to be, I'd have 1 to 1.5 inches of rake. I don't like that much rake.

Bumpin' the question above back to the top as it is also relevant to the OP.

I was at 21.75" up front. Admittedly, this was too high (i.e. not enough droop, about .25 inches higher than the rear although it looked level). I backed off on the torsion bar a turn at a time (in my experience 1 turn equals .25 inches and my measurements confirm this) until I got to 21". At 21" it measures .5 inches lower than the rear, or .75 inches lower than before starting the adjustments. Most would say it "looks" level, though I can see the slight rake.

Would love your comments to my question above.

I have 865's but recently added 30mm spacers, which added about 1.25" height in the rear. I gave the torsion bars two turns, which probably added only .25" in height to the front. I have a good bit of fake, not sure how much it is, but the ride quality is uncheck nicer. Kind of plush with less jarring hits on bumps. I really love the ride quality now but I would like to raise the front a little ore as I think it would look better.

Before I added The spacers I would say I had about 1"rake and the ride quality was good but nt great and not as plush as it is now.

Improvement on old parts?

I'm considering doing the OME 2" lift mainly for the replacement of the springs, torsion bars and shocks. I'm hoping this will "freshen" things up a little. Is this incorrect thinking?

I have no idea when the shocks were changed last (175K on truck).

30MM spacers, crank the stock torsion bars and get some Blstein 4600's. Total cost under $400 and you get a 2" lift while maintaining a near stock ride. If you don't like it than order some OME coils and OME torsion bars to stiffen it up further. Cheap and effective...

Did i just read that right? 4 bilsteins and 2 spacers for $400? i was quoted 500 something for 4 new OEM shocks just the other day...

I bought four bilstein shocks from autozone.com yesterday for $330 including tax shipped to my house. They are also running a promotion that gives you a $15 gift card for every $100 spent, so I have a $45 gift card coming as well. Not a bad deal. Autozone has spring spacers for $6 a piece.

yes thanks brock. looks like they lowered the price of shocks to $72.99 so you couldn't quite get to the $300 mark without buying something else for the third gift card unless they just cost more in your zip code. i bought them and added the generic K@N filter to reach the $300.

Thanks for everyones discussion and input. After driving the landcruiser around more, I have made a decision. I will install 30mm slee spacers in the rear, and keep the front factory torsion bars maxed out (not reindexed and maxed though, so there is more if I want). I just can't put anything in the back, or bikes on the hitch rack, without too much sag. From my visual inspection....real scientific...I think it sits close to level, or maybe 3/4" higher in the front. But I will lift the rear 1 1/4" for $50 and see what I think. Maybe down the road when I build a roof rack and have some trips planned I will look at replacing suspension parts and really getting it right.

Are the bilsteins you ordered made for an inch or two lift? I have some bilsteins on my stock landcruiser and am wondering if they would still work if I put in the 30mm spacers in the rear?

Yes, the OEM replacement Bilsteins will work with a 2" lift. I run 3.2" in the rear with L's, and 2.8" upfront with 4600's and they are fine.

Oem shocks are about $30 each. I'm gonna say 500 is just a tad high.
