Looking to put 2-4" on my 88 62. I have been looking at a HFS lit with Bilstien HDs. Seems a lot of folks here are using OME. Any thoughts?

^^^ What he said.

Read through this thread, and pay attention to what Kurt (cruiser outfitter guy) says in post 42. Take it from someone with the OME Dakar's on his 62, use OME bushings, and do something to fix the inserts in place before the install. I loved my Dakars when they were installed, and should love them again after I go back and do those 2 things.

HFS

I had (should have never sold it :crybaby:) HFS on my 62 and was very happy with the system. I also got the HFS shackles. My only regret was not getting getting greasable bolts.

So sorry for the tread jack here, but what is the point of greasable bolts on shackles? I have them, and put grease in them when I installed them, but I still wondering why?

Oh, and to keep it slightly on topic- We have the OME 3" med/med and they are great!

So they will not wear so much but the biggest benefit for me is cause they are so much easier to remove if you need to.....that and without them rust tends to get back in there:mad:...i hates rust

This has be discussed before: https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/204685-hfs-ome-lift-kits-one.html

DT, the greasable hardware allows the suspension to flex more freely, rather than stick and pop like you would get with steel on dry rubber/poly. I added greasable hardware to my stock springs before I went OME, and that alone made a big difference (mind you the stock bushings were fused in place),

If the system is flawed - has OME done anything to rememdy this, outside of putting your brand new bushings in a vice? Is there anything else in the installation process that can be done to prevent this? And, what about running Bilstien shocks with the OME setup (recently bought a new set - dont want to waste them!)?

All that being said - I will most definately NOT be going with HFS for my 62... sound like the way to go for the 40 series, not so much for mine though.

If the sleeve come outs, you can deform them slightly, or rough up them and the inside of the spring eye and epoxy them. If you are good with a welder, maybe you could tack the sleeve, and clean it up before install. I'm hoping I can get away with cleaning things up with a solvent, tapping the sleeve with a punch inline with the "gap" in the spring eye, and then letting capillary force pull some thinned epoxy into the space between the sleeve and eye.

I have...

I have Alcans all the way around with Bilstein 5150's, HFS extended barbell shackles, greasable 18mm pins, Aussie Poly bushings, greasable spring hangers and SOR "extreme" ubolt skid plates in the back (improved on the "heavy duty" ones that had shady shock mounts and too thin metal)

The system is nice, flexy, smooth and quiet.

I'm actually very impressed with the improved ubolt skid plates.

another vote for OME

i have the OME heavy's with greasble pins and anti inversion shackles. great buy, flexes good, carries the weight good, and rides good. im very happy with mine.

Sounds familiar, I researched the ba'jesus out of this myself. One conclusion - Old Man Emu.

I went with OME mediums, greasable anti-inversion shackles, extended brake lines, shocks, stabilizer, extended front and rear sway bar links (on the fj62)…bla, bla, bla.

Good luck

I would go with OME from cruiseoutfitters. Make sure your Bilstein shocks are the right length for the lift. Also go with greasable pins like said. I just greased mine last night with a gun and it takes mins. I can tell driving it after I just grease them.
