About to pull the trigger on a lift kit. If I get this OME setup, can I reuse my factory top plates or are new ones required? Anything else I’ll need to get?

Trying to do more research. I can’t find anything about what people do for the top plates when they replace the suspension. When I lifted my 4Runner with Bilstein I think I reused factory plates.

you can reuse your top plates. it's the same.

Unless yours have 200K miles on them and are worn out I would suggest reusing the factory top plates.

If you have access to a spring compressor, you can reuse yours. One nice option from some vendors is that they will build the coilovers with new top plates for a fairly reasonable cost, saving you the time of disassembling your coilovers and reassembling with your old top plates. This IMO is well worth the $50-75 it usually costs.

The Dobinson top plates are $110 for a pair, not bad for fresh ones.

@ 208k, I would definitely just replace them.

I would highly recommend you have the supplier pre-install the top plates so the front "struts" are complete when shipped. A typical light-duty spring compressor does not work well for the heavy duty lift coils for these trucks. It is sketchy.

Thanks for the advise! I ended up ordering the Ironman 4x4 2” kit which comes pre assembled. Good to go!

can't beat that bang for thew buck. Hopefully you went with the foam cells

You can re-use, I would inspect condition. If rubber is rough, replace.

If you've not already pulled the trigger. We can beat that price @ Cruiser Outfitters, we stock the top plates AND offer free assembly of the front coilover, making it MUCH easier to install. We've been an OME dealer for decades and can make sure you're getting all the right parts for your particular build. We are extremely fluent in the 200 Series and would love to assist with your suspension and any other while you're in there parts you should be considering for the project. We have it all in stock and can ship as soon as tomorrow (Friday)
