So I got the 4" lift from MAF yesterday. Justin and I are going to attempt an install on Saturday (Jan 24) in the North Delta area. A covered shop on a farm will be the location. Lots of tools and a hoist if we really need it.

If anyone wants to come join us just let me know and I will PM the address. We are hoping we aren't in over our heads as I didn't realise how many parts the kit comes with.

hey greg...i may be interested checking out the install. what time are the festivities starting? not sure if i can lend a hand turning wrenches as ill be recovering from my de-babymaking surgery...but i can offer moral support...

OUCH!

it's actually a double ouch if you want to get technical
ya, don't lift anything, don't look at porn, and don't wrench

take pics of the lift install too!

Very exciting Greg. I'd love to help... however I'm working all weekend.:D

Now that you'll be so much taller I guess it will be time for bigger tires. That's the whole point right! So.... want to sell me your BFG's, we might be able to work out some sort of scooter trade.:bounce2:

I had the visit with Dr. Pollack in late November. Still a little tender, but everything still works well.

We were thinking of starting around 8:30am. No problem if you can't wrench. Moral support is always good.

Sonny. Saturday 8:30am'ish...not Friday.

hey greg its karl, you should be fine, itll be a fairly smooth install. i may be free sometime tomorrow if needed..

So the lift is in. It took Justin and I a long day on Sat. and a few hours on Sunday but we did it. The hardest part was dealing wih brake lines. We had one that wouldn't come off and we broke the solid line. After I had a friend make up a new line for us it was all good. And we only have 4 pieces of something left that we didn't install! Not sure what they are. Anyways the lift looks great. Justin's truck doesn't look so tall beside it. Pics to follow soon.

Well we didn't get any pics of the install as we were too busy trying to figure out how to install everything. We had fun learning and felt proud of ourselves. I still need to get the panhards adjusted properly as I still have a slight vibe in the rear when accelerating or decelerating. Love the look and the feel of the Man-a-fre lift.

Looks great Greg! Did the kit come with castor plates and/or bushings?

Very cool Greg. You definitely need larger tires though!!!:D Probably mud terrains too, not all terrains.:)

very nice greg! glad to hear the install went well. is that the 4+ lift you got? i think they use ome J's which are just an 1" longer heavies...correct? how does it ride compared to stock?

also..hows the part time kit workin out? is it a much lighter feeling in the wheel? with having longs...going part time was a good choice.

now go take her out for a shakedown run!

very nice mr greg

Worth it

Still can't lift my right arm above my head a week later. But seeing the pics makes it worth the while.

Just need some split rims (hey, I have a set in my garage) and UN badges on the side. You could pass for a Shiekh if you also adjusted your wardrobe significantly. . .

Looks good, ever thought about adding a body lift  Don't, it's great the way it is.

That looks bad ass!
I'm also thinking about getting a MAF lift for my 80.

I have a couple of questions:
what kit did you install? I only see this one 80 SERIES COMPETITION COIL SPRING SUSPENSION 4-INCH KIT All 80 SERIES. Correct?

Did you get the kit locally, of did you order it through the MAF website?
If yuo ordered it, how much was the shipping?

thanks

The kit is the competion 4" OME/4+ lift. It comes with the caster correction drop brackets. It rides really nice. It's not too stiff on the road and the wife likes it. It's her daily driver with the kids. We drove to Whistler on Thursday and it was good. My only complaint is it didn't come with instructions so I am having a hard time figuring out were to adjust the rear panhards to. I still have a bit of a vibe in the rear drive shaft. The angle looks good so maybe it's a u joint?

As for the part time kit, I like that as well. It's hard to say exactly how much I've gained in mileage but I have figured it has averaged between 2 or 3 miles per gallon. I really noticed the difference on the drive to Whistler and back. The steering is also way easier. One finger turns!

Got it from Man-a-fre. Shipping to the Point Roberts drop site was $120-130 US.
