Lift Gate light flashing while driving

Hi All,

Over the last few days the overhead light is going on and the dash notification that the rear lift gate is open keeps popping up. The rear gate is definitely closed and I’m looking for tips on how to fix.

I’ve searched and can’t seem to find any tips on how to get it working correctly.

My thoughts are that the bump stops could be worn and need to be replaced or the sensor inside the door mechanism is broken.

Any tips on how to resolve?

FYI - it is a 2011 with a manual hatch

Had this exact same thing happened to me on my 11. Hit a bump it would come on. Take a turn to fast it would come on. Did some digging and and it’s the lock assembly. Put this new one never had a issue again.
