Lift gate help

I have a 2001 LX 470 that has some significant rust on the bottom edge of the lift gate. Both lights have rusted out and it continues. I live in Iowa, where we use salt, but the truck came from up North. Not a good choice, but I got a good deal on it at the time. Anyway, it's paid for with 171k and I'd like to drive it till it wont' go anymore. I'm afraid the body will rust away before any engine problems. I've looked for a parted out truck and can't seem to find anything here on MUD or otherwise. I assume the Toyota and Lexus lift gates years 1998 to 2002 are the same, is this correct? Also wonder if anyone has a part number or ideas about where I can buy a new replacement lift gate? Thanks!

Gate lights have rusted out or the ones on back quarter panels?

Lexus and Toyota tailgates and quarter panels are different due to the shape of the lights.

You sure, they look the same to me. The uppers, which is sounds like you're after, are the same. Anyway, try car-part.com for a used gate, may even be able to find one in your color.

LX back up light are on tail gate (next to the license plate), so you might have to rewire them if you want to use those lights. Or just wire it to a switch as extra back up lights.

The reverse lights on my LX are not by the lic plate. Its on the tail light itself

Let it rust. Save you're pennies for a clean West Coast truck when this one dies. Chasing that kind of stuff in the salt belt is an exercise in frustration.
