Alright, I am in the process of converting all my cooling system back to the Toyota stuff. Got the fan clutch, ordering the radiator and thermostat tomorrow. I read the aftermarket radiators last between 3-5yrs. My fan coupling has lasted 4 and the radiator too, I think. My water pump is exactly 4yrs old. It is a POS carquest part. Is it a good idea to go ahead and order a water pump and go ahead and do it all while I have it tore down? I have no way of knowing if its bad, but just figure how pissed I will be if the rad, fan clutch, thermstat don't solve my prob. What do you guys think?

Well, you gotta do whatever lets you sleep well at night. If that is saving the $100 or so for the pump, then leave it in . If you sleep better knowing your pump is new, and a high quality Yota pump, then replace it.

Personally, if I were going to all that trouble, I would put in the new pump and know the whole system is as it should be and I wouldn't have to worry about going in again any time soon. That is my MO.

But, that's just one guy's opinion.

well, I'd have to agree.... change it out. why go back in if you don't have to? and why get stranded (although we LC folk rarely are stranded). Isn't the time you'll spend on it worth the $100? You could make that back pulling 3 jeeps out of the hole they're stuck in.
