My 2010 GX460 with 136k miles has been throwing timing codes. I just brought it into the dealership for a diagnosis and they found that it needs a new timing chain and sprocket, and quoted my $8300 for the job, which seems to me like 3 or 4x more than I would expect it to be.

Does anyone have a good mechanic they can recommend? Am I right in thinking this is closer to a $2500 job on the high side?

Thanks all.

For that price I'd think you can get one of those motors pulled from a vehicle in Japan that has only 30,000 to 50,000 miles on it!
