Has anyone on the board replaced a set of bottom end bearings on a 1HD-T in the truck?

I did a set on a engine stand, piece of cake, but under the truck with the front axle in the way????

I'm just about to tackle this job on my cruiser. When you jack the car up support it with axle stands underneath the chassis and not the axle. You need maximum suspension sag so you can manouver the sump clear of the steering tie bar.You may or may not have to remove the 2 engine block to transmission support brackets at the rear of the sump.I've seen it done without removing them but it's a tight fit.Once the sump's off it's a piece of cake.

Just the info I neede THANKS.......

I suspect it will be a bit more work on my back, but a good piece of mind once completed.

In most cases the axle will droop more with the shocks not attached, this might give more clearance?

Just going to do this on mine, I know someone who has just done it, took about 4 hours and didn't need to disconnect the shocks. Most difficult part is fitting the sump on again without damaging the bead of silicon gasket as they don't use a normal gasket just silicon instant gasket. You need to be carefull to not damage the nead otherwise the sump will just piss out oil.

Also you are supposed to check which bearing shells you need from the stamps on the caps however they all tend to come out the same so you should be OK getting a set before hand if you don't want the truck off the road for more than a day.

Another option if you can't get the sag enough on the suspension is to remove the steering tie bar - did this on my Hilux.
