So as of now I have a nicely running 3FE.
Dizzy's in right, timing good and runs nice and smooth.
Oil pressure doesn't appear to be as high as it should be and it's got a bit of a typewriter sound. Who know just how long the donner engine with 65k was sitting in the bone yard.
Putting the front end markers, headlights and grill in as I can and looking forward to getting it smogged and on the street.
Didn't think this day would ever come.
More later,

use a real pressure gauge(plumbing parts will suffice to test)- don't trust the factory gauge and then spray out the sending unit with carb cleaner as stuff will build up there and mess with the sending unit. Valves might need adjustment, pretty simple on the 3fe as I assume its no different than the 2f.. Good job

Took Ernest out for a good spin today. First around the hood to make sure it'd stop and not blow up and the put on 65 miles. town and highway.
Haven't plumed in a real oil pressure guage and it's still running a little low.
Water temp guage is running in the bottom quarter part of the time, at level or normal for part of the time.
At one point the check engine lite came of for about a minute and then went off not to return...so far. Will have to check the diagnostics tomorrow.
All in all not a bad first run.

Big day yesterday. The culmination of over a year of work and hope and stress.
Tossed in a set of ND plugs, drove it up the hill to get it nice and warm all over and off the the smog station.
Passed with flying colors. :D
Off to the DMV(missed first half of the Netherland/Uraguay match:mad:) and received my confirmation for all the work and headache I subjected myself to over this last year or so.:bang: Plates and a completed registration!:bounce::bounce2:
Now, on to fix all the little fussin's that need to be completed and probably on to the selling block soon.
Stay tuned for the sale.

Thanks. It's been a long time coming and at times I had my doubts especilly with the EB1 plug debacle. Hard to believe I was succefully able to back out of that rabbit hole.
Now it's on to base line all the other fluids and get it ready for sale or ...??

Just to check in, it's been a few weeks since I installed a new and correct type battery. All is well.
It has been the hand brakes DD with few complaints. I wouldn't put her in it if it wasn't safe and reliable.
It needs a valve adjust, new shocks and the birfs done. A couple of minor trim pieces and a few nuts and bolts tightened here and there. Nothing major.
All the fluids have been base lined and even though the hand brake complained about the "gas consumption" (hey, it's a Land Cruiser), the mileage came out to 12.2 gpm on the first full tank. That's about what I get with my 93 and much better than her last 80 ever got. Not too bad.
This replacement engine seems to have panned out though I really haven't tried to punish it yet. Seems that the dark cloud that was Ernest for so many months has now shown it's silver lining and finally, at last, the vision I originally had has come to pass.
Now to sell the bugger to get something for the kid or wife.
