Well at least the color looks nice! I tend to agree that without going all out with retrofitted projectors it's not really worth an upgrade. My cars in the past with high quality xenon projectors (BMW X5, Honda S2000, Audi TT, etc.) had amazing output, but those are all projectors designed by the OEM to be that way. I like the idea of grafting in the projectors from a high end car and tuning them to work with the 100 like what Nick does.

Color does look great, I really wanted that to work but as we all expected... Nick is right? So is it the cutoff that you're least impressed with? Any actual drive time yet? Can you at least see better than with stock halogen? I just finished a long trip through a bit of blizzard, plenty fog, and rain all at night and I'm so fed up with my headlights right now...

Mcgaskins, ditto. That's my plan....

Yotasavg, getting these into a projector will make a difference. The cutoff is non-existent, yes, drove a bit in the rain and also last night when it was dry. They light up the road directly in front of the truck very very well. But as expected, no distance. I can definitely see better than the stock halogen, but again, light output is somewhat shortsighted. Again, this has been discussed before so the new data I'm hoping to log is how they perform in a decent projector housing. To be continued

I have been considering this for some time now, but without the projector retrofit. One of my main concerns is the durability of the little fan behind the bulbs being unprotected from the elements. I drive in dusty conditions and dont see that fan lasting 3 months in those conditions.

I wonder what the pattern looks like with those bulbs, for now I'm happy with my Osram Nightbreakers but LEDs are the future..

Looks like Southwest Overland in the vendor forums has the LEDs for lx470's now

bringing this back to the top to see if there are any better options out there? Anyone have some long term results with these?

Here's my update, been running my set (that I posted the thread on) for over a year now with zero issues whatsoever. Heavy rain, cold temps down to zero. Heavy snow, hot temps up to 114 in Texas this past summer. Very impressed by them :) just wish I had a projector to put them behind.

Interesting - when you installed them you weren't impressed - you prefer them over the halogens?

I am not super impressed by the light scatter. I really do think if they were behind a projector housing it would make them more effective. I do like them better than my halogens, but the distance the shine down the road just isn't quite there. Again, would a projector make a difference? I think so.

That little fan on the back will be the weak link for lifetime numbers. Do lamps have thermal cutoffs if fan fails?

That I don't know...time will tell. :-/

Dust caps? Not 100% sure what you mean...I haven't had moisture issues inside the lights.
