I know this is common issue with the LC 200-Series, but over the last 6 months the leather on my LX470 has begun to show signs of failing on the left side of the steering wheel. What are some repair options that others have had success with?

There's a very reputable shop in Dallas that will rebuild it for you, I forget the name but if you do a search it should come up. There are also some aftermarket look-alikes on Ebay that people have had good results with. You could also try a Loncky DIY cover (also Ebay or Amazon), I've had good success with them in both of my 100s but mine didn't have the wood sections, only leather. Finally, PVS in Australia makes super nice replacement wheels that keep your OEM center insert, but they are pricey. I have one of those in my wife's 200.

That leather is coated with "Paint/dye" and the surface has degraded but the leather underneath still looks ok... from the pic. Restoration involves sanding and repainting it. Find a auto leather repair business... I'm sure the local used car dealer has one they use.... or do some research and DIY it yourself.

I wanted to give my 2000 LX470 steering wheel to Dallas Customs, but they won't refinish wood and mine was trashed. I bought a new one from Taiwan. I love it.

It looks like a Toyota core with new wood and leather. It is a later (gen 2 100 series) style with 10 and 2 knobs, but I like those better anyway, so it wasn't a deal breaker for me.
