That bed looks really nice. Did Kona build that as well? I only wish I could fit in a pickup- I've always wanted one. One day I'll build an extra cab pickup, but it will not look as good as the standard cab one like yours does.

No, Kina did not do the bed. Local New England chap named Wally. Here's more

Jason you have been busy, or atleast keeping others busy for you!:D That looks great, and I see you found some seats to put in.

Hey its only money right? The seats are a tight fit and I would love to find a bench style although the 78 FJ40 seats are growing on me. Getting used to them.

As for the bed it was (over)built by Wally. He is located in N. Pownal VT and does great work. If anyone wants his contact info PM me and I can send his phone or email.

Wow, you guys have some talented fabricators in New England; must be those long winters. It is hard to find quality like that in New Mexico... or here in Australia, for that matter. I can't get over how much better your rig looks in the short time since you got it from John.

Josh

Looks great Kina. You always do some awesome work.

Wish you guys where making it for Tellico, Its never quite the same with out the Zippieheads there ;)

Pulled the trigger on a set of 3.5" Alcan springs. Should be here in about a month :bounce:

3.5" will look great on there. What size were your tires? I didn't check. I did skim through and look at your roll cage and seats again. Now I remember where I got the cage inspiration from. I just have to finish it now. The seats were 78 FJ40 buckets you said. I want to replace my stock 60/40 bench with something that has headrests. It would be nice to stay Toyota and have three belts (so both kids can come along) but those buckets look good and would be sized right I guess. Pictures when doing the springs would be great.

Thanks. Tires are currently 33x10.5x15 TSL Radials. I’m planning on going with 35x10.5x15 SSRs.

As far as seats I wouldn’t do the 78 seats again. I picked up a 79+ 60/40 RHD bench from another Mud member (thanks Jamie). The back is a little thinner and has the recline so it should be more comfortable and have more room. I just need to install it. The reason I got rid of the bench before was that it was mismatched.

I’ll be sure to post pictures of the spring install.

Good news Jason! When we going to do some parts cleaning on your ride?

Yeah I have to plan that. Right now I am trying to clean the light blue metallic paint off the H55 and t-case. :frown: The PO must have thought it was a nice color.

Jason,

Can't wait to see your rig with the lift!! The light blue colour was the paint they sprayed on the rebuilds from that company (so I was told by the wreckers). I guess that way they always knew which gear boxes they had to warranty. It will look much nicer when it is stripped. Is that going into this rig? Lots of photos!

Kevin.

60/40 seats like Jason is doing are the way to go I'd say.

Cheers,

Josh

Sorry to highjack - these seats... have they got headrests? I'm not too familiar with them.:o

Kevin,

Yes, from about 81-84 or so. You would have to make a bracket for them to bolt to the older tub, but I reckon you could manage.:)

Josh

Good to know. It was one of the ones that Jsaltlic brought in when he got his last container. It seems to shift the nicest out of the group so I grabbed it.

As Josh said backets would need to be made but that should't be in issue with your fab skills. I'll see if I can post up some pics of the seats.

About a month ago I crawled under the 45 and noticed that the frame was filled with dirt. Last night I got under there and spent about an hour and a half cleaning it all out. I'm a assuming this was from before it was imported.

Jason,

You got the re-built one. It looks much better with most of the paint off of it. You are going to love how that truck drives with a 5 speed.:)

I remember when I first discovered all that dirt in my frame rails- it must have taken me 2 hours to get it all out. What a difference, though, when it is clean. Now I can spray fish oil in there to keep it from rusting, and I rinse it out regularly.

Where are the seats from?

Cheers,

Josh

Those bullets must be from before 1996. That was when the Aussie government completely dis-armed their entire populace- now only the criminals have guns. The funny thing is that now there are shootings almost every night on the news! I guess if I were going to be a criminal, I would much prefer doing it here than in the US, because here I know that I will be the only person with a gun.

The Aussies had the largest mass shooting in history down in Tasmania in 1996. So in true-blue Aussie fassion, the government responded by taking away everyone's guns.... Handy for the government here that Aussies do not have a Bill of Rights to protect them.

Cheers,

Josh

Does that mean if someone drove a 45 series down the main street of town and run over 40 people they would ban all 45 series cruisers

If they did then we would gladly take them here in the US

While I am here might as well add to the thread. Picked up a trail cover today from a guy in Boston for $50. Came off a Jeep but saves me from having to keep putting the top on.
