Has anyone had their leaf springs bent back to original shape? Their is a local company that rebends the springs back to original specs but also informed me that they would have to add a leaf to the pack because over time they will resettle back. Is this worth the process its about 350.00 for both axles. And if so what else should I replace shackles etc.....also my springs are completely flat this thing rides hard....

IMHO, I would replace them, for a little more you can get either the parabolic springs or an OME kit which they are a lot better than the factory:steer:

My luck with re-arched springs (back when I wasn't quite so cynical I tried it) has been universally bad. With the price of the new Dakar springs from OME and the fact that they seem to be indestructable, (I have 180K on mine) you would have to be nuts to do anything else. Call Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and get some, you'll be glad you did.

This is the only way I destroyed a set of OME'S; hitting a tree at 35-40 mph!

I told the tree to move... he did not listened!!!!:D

$350 for both axles is attractive. I can see your dilemma.

If your springs are really flat, anything will be an improvement.

If you are gonna do a short term repair, then yes, go with the re-arc. If you are gonna run it for a few years, you will probably be money ahead purchasing a new set.

for short term while you save up for the ome just add a leaf a long leaf to help the ride .... not very hard to do in the driveway with just a floor jack and stand ...... just my .02

I had a friend get a shop to do this for him. It turned out very bad. Also, when I pulled my leafs out, I had three broken leafs on each side in the back, and 2 broken leafs on each side in the front. No wonder why my truck rode so rough.
